Hey Ladies,

This is a weird question but are any of you having platanos at your cocktail hour? I'm soooo against it but FH who you guessed it (Domincano) says it's a must?? I say it's weird pleeeease give me your opinion.

LMAO. I AM having the 'Spanish Station'....pallea and plantains at cocktail hour. If you're blending with lots of other stations, it works fine. Did he want tostones though? That would be tough, my RH only has sweet plantains...they would probably at tostones.

I went to a wedding were they had a large spanish station in the CH and it was yummy, included platanos..lol

I am sure everyone would enjoy it, but it is wise to mix it with other plates

We are having a latin stations w/ arroz con pollo & platanos... we are also having an italian station and an asian station --- we wanted to cover all bases.. and being that about 70% of the guests are hispanic...they will definitely appreciate the latin station..

I'm actually not at the 50ish mark...I'm just impatient, so I called my hall banquet manager and told him that I wanted to meet up with Ian. lol. I have 79 more days to go!!!!! I will definitely ask him about upgrades. The one thing extra that I did include was the spanish station...that's about $7 extra per head. I'm actually going to ask him about linens because i didn't want to use the ivory ones they have. I'm also going to see if they can tweak the cocktail menu. I went to a food tasting and wasn't too fond of the antipasta so i'll try to see if they can replace that with something else. So much to do!

hahahahaha I can't blame you for being impatient i'll probably do the same thing lol. The spanish station sounds great. What does that include probably paella? Oh no that stinks that the antipasta wasn't too great , i haven't gone to a tasting yet. I know they are doing one on the 21st so i'll probably go to that one. At least your ahead and not waiting to the last minute that's always great.

The spanish stations includes paella, empanadas, ceviche, maduros and something else...can't remember off the top of my head. Some ppl may like the anti pasta...I'm just not a huge fan of it and I know most of my guests won't be since like 99.9% are Latinos. So if I can replace it with something else, that would be great...if not, I don't think that ppl will complain just because its sooo much food and you're not going to like everything. The cocktail food was delish though...so no worries!

Oooo the Spanish station sounds delish!!! Yea that's true they give so much food that if you don't like something there is plenty more to eat from. I went to a wedding in 2007 and the cocktail hour was delicious but i just want to taste again lol just to be greedy. All of my guest are Latinos so i should probably upgrade to include the Spanish station that would be appreciated by them lol.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Hola My fellow Latinas!!...lol

Thanks for all the suggestions and I will agree that at first I too thought it was casual but there will be paella as well as an Italian station, and a continental selection so I think we will be fine. I have to be considerate of the fact that most of FH's family is not as Americanized as my Spanish side and I want evryone to enjoy the food. My only fear is that the cooks know what they are doing...lol...
By the way the platanos we are having are the soft sweet ones I'm sorry I don't really know the difference...lol..

I love this thread G-Rod please keep it going!!.. I had no idea we had so many latinas here.

Alot of RH's have a cook that know how to prepare Spanish food so i'm sure you will be fine. Can you ask your RH for a sample of the spanish dishes, maybe you can tell them that your guests are picky and you want to make sure that the food is good. I will try my hardest to keep it going

You can request to have it made that is what I am doing. Most places do not provide spanish food I have no idea why but if you provide them with a recipe MOST are willing to work with you. *This is for cocktail hour only. I have no idea about entrees*Explain your situation if they are nice they might work with you.
