Yayyy I was actually looking for this post the other day. Quick question to my latina brides..Are you asking your Dj's to play more spanish than english vice a versa or an equal combo of both. Fh and I are having a real hard time and our finals for the Dj were due last Friday. I can't dance spanish music for shitz and I think it's too late to learn...LOL...

My DJ played both, I never asked him to do one more than the other. I think he mixed it up pretty good. If I am not mistaken, I think the last hour was only English.

then you should probably have him play 2 spanish songs out of 6...it all depends how many spanish dancing ppl you have there...lol. Also, freestyle can be danced by everyone...you may want to add that type of music in.

I'm in the same predictament i can't dance salsa for nada so we are having a little bit more English music than Spanish. FH is going to teach me a little though since we have time still.

Hey girls!!I'm not latina but close to it... FH is Puerto Rican1 His whole family is coming from Puerto Rico for the wedding in the middle of winter. I kinda feel bad for making them trek to NY cold...but hopefully they'll enjoy NYC and the big tree and all. So....any latino traditions out there that i could incorporate into the wedding? Also I'm scared they are all not going to like the idea that we are not getting married in a church. I figured since so many ppl are travelling that it's better to do it all in one place. Hope that flies!
I'm def going to get a DJ that knows some salsa, merengue etc. any good dj's that can play a variety of latin music and american?? (my family is 1/2 italian as well!)

Hi and welcome
.Have they ever been to NY? Maybe the cold won't be so bad for them. I'm Puerto Rican and we basically do everything like a American wedding. I guess music is something you can do and maybe if your RH has a Spanish upgrade i'm sure they will enjoy that. Maybe you can have your signature drink like a mojito or daiquiri of some type. Maybe you can have the flavor of your cake like a mango or dulce de leche flavor(YUM!!)The DJ companies that i have heard that specialize in American and Spanish music are Ultimate Sounds DJ's(who i'm using) the owner is Italian and he has DJ's from all nationalities which is great because if you get a Spanish DJ he will know American and Spanish music. My DJ is Rafael he used to play at clubs so he definitely can cater to all tastes of music. I also know of Elegancia they were very nice when i spoke to but felt maybe they wouldn't cater to our American music tastes. HTH

Hi Ladies! I'm new to this board and just saw this topic. My background is Colombian and FH is Italian. I want a good balance of music at the wedding too. Colombians are into salsa more than merengue. I will definitely want some songs and will give the DJ a list, but I don't want the other half to get bored. Hopefully, the DJ will get it just right!Welcome New Vendors
