Hey there. My name is Gemma. I´m 1/2 Ecuadorian and 1/2 Italian. I was born and raised in NY but came on vacation to Ecuador a little over 3 years ago and decided to move here. I´m getting married in Long Island because my parents still liver there and the rest of my fam is throught NY and one sister in FL. Trying to plan a wedding over the phone and online is a bit weird but I am finding my way little by little.
My FH is Ecuadorian and speaks limited English. However most of my guest list is non spanish speaking. i´m keeping it small and so mostly it´s my dad´s side of the fam (he has 7 brss and sis so between them and their kids its like 80 - 90% of the list!!)
I want to incorporate all types of music into my wedding ie latino - salsa merengue, swing music, 80s music (for fh) and italian music. I think I´m going to have a hard time finding a DJ!!!
My mom is not traditional at all (she´s my ecaudorian 1/2) so i´m not really following any traditions per se.
Originally we were thinking of just doing the ceremony in English but I like the idea of doing it mixed Eng and Span (although I didn´t read all of the pages of this thread I did skim through quite a few!!) The other issue as that the wedding is 100% non religious. Does anyone know of a justice of the peace or other non-denominational person that can give a ceremony in both english and spanish?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Gemma
Hi and welcome
. I have heard of alot of girls on here use Pastor April i'm not sure of her contact info but if you post asking for her info im sure you will get it. Im not having anything traditional besides the music myself.

Hey ladies, I havent been here in a while but I just want to congratulate the new latinas bride-to be..
I used my mantilla veil and everyone loved! my aunt made it for me so it was extra special
I dance 'besos de mariposa' with my dad and it was the perfect song (is the spanish version of butterfly kisses'
My menus where in English and spanish (my DIY project) and the older people love that
Just remember that the day is your day and if something dont go your way dont think about it just have fun!
Congrats!! That is so great that you made your menus in English and Spanish.

Hey There!! I don´t know if any of you are interested in this but I needed an officiant who was bi-lingual b.c fh doesn´t speak much english. I found somone great!! My sister went to meet her and loved her. She also only charges $250. Here´s her info:JZ Event Planning [This vendor was matched to your request (501C-43956)]

I think the 866 number is not working right now. She also does wedding planning and day of coordination. She charges a deposit and then you can do a payment plan.
I´m soooo excited. I have a little over 6 months left and other than the RH this is the only thing I have booked!!!

THis is awesome thank you!!! We are looking for a bilingual officiant since all of FH's family is coming from Puerto Rico. Although most of them know English, i still think it would be nice to incorporate both languages!! thanks for the info again!

Hi, my name is Elsie and I am a second generation PR. My fiance is Italian and German. We are having a Spanish station but our hall is allowing us to bring in food from our favorite place. We are having yellow rice, pernil, empanadas and not sure what else.

Me too since FH is Italian. I'm giving them some Colombian Salsa to play. I actually just found the song I want to dance with my dad - Juanes 'Mi Guardian'. He wrote it for his daughter..I was bawling when I heard it.

Ohhh they have a spanish station? I'll definitely be asking them about that.
BTW, my name is Jennifer and I'm Colombian/Ecuadorian and FH is Puerto Rican. One way we're incorporating our culture into the wedding, aside from the music during the reception, is by having a guitarist play spanish music during cocktail.
