I'm a Milleridge Bride Too! 4/7/06

I don't usually venture into Brides Helping Brides. I mostly stick with 06 Brides. I was beginning to wonder why there were so few 06 Milleridge Brides. It's so nice to hear so many good things about Milleridge. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! But reading all of your comments has just reassured me that I made the right decision! Ya! I'm so excited!!!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I just wanted to say on Sat. I went to a wedding at the milleridge.

I only have 2 suggestions: Get valet & get a cake from a bakery.

The cake was awful. And it was pouring out and everyone was saying how cheap they were for not getting valet. Plus everyone was soaked.

The Milleridge doesn't offer valet- sorry you got wet.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

FH and I went for our tasting and menu this past weekend!!! We've heard from people (and you girls!) that the food is really well prepared. Let me tell you- the food was AMAZING!!!

FH and I had a great time! Leslie was so nice (as always!). We loved all of the hors d'ouvres (especially the clams!!).

Here's what we chose for our menu:
Appetizer: crepe florentine
Salad: garden salad
Entrees: salmon, chicken kiev, and the prime roast rib.
Dessert: swan cream puffs!
WCake: couldn't decide... So, I went to the bakery and they'll be making me a top-tier sample (with the decorations and all!) vanilla cake with chocolate mousse, covered with buttercream. It was $16.

The only thing that I'm torn over is chosing the napkin color. I know, it's a HUGE decision, right??

I will be folding each napking into a cute menu pocket fold. I don't know if the burgundy or ivory napkin will look better or nicer. Aside from that, I'm done with the Milleridge.

I think the bride & groom could have got added valet if they wanted.

What things did you enjoy about the wedding?

anything good to say??

I loved my cake so apparently that's a matter of personal preference since the cakes do come from a bakery.

As far as the valet goes, that would have to be outsourced, Milleridge does not offer it.

I am sorry about the cake thing. I didn't know it came from a bakery. I should find out which one.

The cookies were very good and the spinach crepe. They had something strange before the cake and cookies too. It was a swan looking thing with custard in it.

I am sorry. I was just giving my honest opinion and thought I could help.

Valet would have been worth the money especially because the parking lot is all the way down that hill.

Glad to hear the crepe was good.

The swan creme puff has gotten raves, too.

The cake is included & is from the Milleridge bakery. ( a regualr open to teh public bakery) The B & G may have chosen to go elsewhere though. I liked my cake as well. It may depend on what kind they got.

The 'strange thing before the cake' is the swan cream puff. My guests loved it. My brother ate 2!
And 2 people sent me pictures of it-lol. The milleridge includes a dessert in addition to the cake & there are other choices , but the swan cream puff is popular.

I didn't think they offerred valet, but when I was there to book the Carriage house, it Franksbride was getting married at the Cottage & it appeared they had valet (my dad joked about stealing keys)
Maybe they did outsource though.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Hi everyone, I'm back and I'm married. Everything at the Milleridge was excellent. Everyone had such a good time and the food was delicious! And the swans were a success. My husband ate THREE of them thanks to our maitre'd. He even brought him over 2 large glasses of milk to wash them down.

I have no complaints at all. I haven't put up a review, but if you have any questions, ask away. Oh, one little blip...a fuse blew while we were dancing and the music stopped for about 5 minutes. I wasn't the happiest with that, but what can you do. I thought it was the dj, but it was the Milleridge. They fixed it pretty quickly though and we got on with the dancing. If it happened during the father/daughter or mother/son, or any special dance I would have been so upset, but luckily it didn't!

Now we can't wait for another wedding there so we can go back and try the food we didn't get to eat that night!

It worked out great. Our total ended up being 110 which was perfect and there was plenty of room to dance!

so we are going over our tipping schedule. I know we have to tip Matre De and bridal attendent. I think we are also have to tip the bartenders, but did anyone tip their banquet manager. Kristy has been very helpful and I don't know if we should give her something.

I had Kristy too. I didnt' tip her. I didn't see her at the wedding at all. The banquet office really just does the behind the scenes stuff. I meant to send a thank you, but I never did.

I tipped the maitre D' & I had a tip for the bridal attendant, but we didn't have one, so I gave half of her tip to the Maitre D, b/c I love dhim so much. I tipped the barteneder a little, b/c I was jsut in a giving mood, but the graiuty covers that & soem of the guests tipped as well. I didn't expect or need them too, but a lot of them said they'd feel weird NOT tipping.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Hey Ladies...Do you think the cottage is too large for 75-100 people. I love the look of the place (as do George Washington Manor, same owners) but considering it can hold up to 400 ( or 500?) ppl I'm afraid it's too large. I really don't want everyone to be too spread out. I'm also not thrilled with the fact that they don't offer valet. Does anyone know how much this usually costs to outsource? Not sure if we should even bother to look...Thanks!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I also liked the cottage, but they told me that the minimum for the cottage was 150. The Carriage House (where I am having the reception) requires a minimum of 65 and a maximum of 130 or 120... I forget. I just know that I'm cutting it close with 115 people.

I don't know about the valet outsourcing. I hope this helps you a bit.
