so we are going over our tipping schedule. I know we have to tip Matre De and bridal attendent. I think we are also have to tip the bartenders, but did anyone tip their banquet manager. Kristy has been very helpful and I don't know if we should give her something.

No tip for the BM, because she probably gets commission for booking the party. We tipped the bridal attendant and maitre d'.

Since they didn't set up the room the way they told me they would, ignored some of my instructions, left me to get my own drink from the bar, and didn't pack a morsel of food from the meals of my seven no-shows, I wish I'd kept the maitre d's very generous tip for myself! I also wish I'd realized these problems (aside from the drink )during the reception!

Hey Ladies...Do you think the cottage is too large for 75-100 people. I love the look of the place (as do George Washington Manor, same owners) but considering it can hold up to 400 ( or 500?) ppl I'm afraid it's too large. I really don't want everyone to be too spread out. I'm also not thrilled with the fact that they don't offer valet. Does anyone know how much this usually costs to outsource? Not sure if we should even bother to look...Thanks!

Yes, the cottage is too large- I thiknk the min might be 150, but it depends on the night & month. The carriage house is good gor smaller weddigns. I had 85 & Tp329 had 110 & both fit perfectly.

I didn't look at GWM, but I think they have 2 rooms, so they may be able to accomodate, 'medium' better.

Who was your maitre d?
I had Samir & was excellent! DH & I always had a drink & he even asked out parents if they wanted anythign durignte CH.

I didn't have a Birdal attendant & never asked why, but I didn't need one.

I don't think most places give you left over food from no shows.
Did they actually have it out on the table?
For our 1 no show, they out out the salad & dessert & other people shared them. The entree, obviously since there was no one to pick it, they didn't serve one, but they don't have a set number number of eachprepard, b/c they dont' knwo who is goign toorder what, so it is not like there was exactly one chicken dish, waiting to be eaten.

Steve was the Maitre D.

I don't know what they did with the no-show food. From some pictures, it was obvious that those plates weren't served. I didn't even realize that some of the guests didn't show up until after the reception.

The bridal attendant brought us CH food in the bridal suite, let me know when my dress came unbustled and packed up the bridal suite for us before we left.

Ladies, I posted this on Brides helping Brides and I got no responses, except for 1 person that told me 'I wasn't a real bride'.
But my FH and I are on the fence on choosing The Milleridge Cottage House for our wedding, but I need a little push.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at the Milleridge?
I really like the historic rustic side to it, but in a way that is also pushing me away from it. It is affordable and it has a lot of beauty inside. We are looking for a place that would be good in the winter months so we want to have a place that has all its beauty inside.
I got a good feel for it when we went to see it, but there were a few things that bothered me.

So ladies why did you choose to have your wedding at the Milleridge Inn????

I liked the size of it. (The Carriage House) I wanted a small wedding, but didn't wnat to be in a tiny room in a gigantic wedding factory.

I liked the rustic feel, I didn't want anything marble.

When I met with them I liked
THe banquet manager
THe menu
The price
The staturday night avaialability on 10 months notice.

After my wedding, I can tell you I loved the Maitre D', the florist & the food.

I got married in the fall, so we had our pictures outside on the grounds. I can see that being a concern if you were getting married in the winter.

Fh and I are officially starting the reception hall search -

Could someone please FM some pricing/price range? I think the 2 star reception is more than enough for us, and we're looking to have a Saturday evening or the Sunday before Presidents Day, Feb 2006.

Thanks so much!!!

eta: for the Cottage please

there were little things that bothered me that I can get over with time.
First I didn't think the woman's bathroom was kept up, it was very dated. I remeinded me of a bathroom in a high school. One of the doors on te stalls was falling off.
I had a problem with the fact that their was no valet parking service.
I thought that the ratio of waiters to tables was not right. I wanted more waiters. I could get more waiters but te person I met with never called me back with a price.

But otherwise I really liked the Cottage.

Okey dokey, I just read through all 12 pages and I couldn't find an answer for this. If you decided to forgo the 1/2 dozen or dozen roses in the bubble vase, did they give you a certain dollar amount of credit towards changing to something else? If so, can you please share that number? And what if you just decide not to have them at all and bring in your own florist or something? Do they give you any money back? Thanks!

You need to call the florist and see what they tell you. It may be different from what they tell or told other brides.

This very issue caused me so much stress, it was unbelievable. My BM gave me incorrect information about this and the people at the florist made me feel like a pauper. I completely regret giving them my business.

That said, the florist told me that there's no financial credit. They refused to equate the roses to money. If you don't use them for your CPs, they'll give your florist the actual roses for your florist to use. I'll FM you with exactly what I did and how much it cost me.

Ooh, that doesn't sound promising. Looking forward to your FM!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I credited the 6 roses/per bubble vase and upgraded to candelabras (candles only). The roses will be rose petals on the tables. The candelabras will only have the 2 foot ivory tapers. It's about $250 for ten tables. :)

You have to be car eful with too many waiters. One per tables seems helpful, but I have been in halls where they just get in each other & the guets way.

I think you have to buy a small cake someone a few pages back said it was $16.
Our cake was really good though. I would recommend them!
