Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I have been planning my wedding on LI from California and it has been REALLY challenging.

The one thing that has been consistently great has been Kristy from Milleridge. She has been so helpful and has given me such great advice as far as some of the small details surrounding the reception.

BTW she just got engaged as well.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

so great to see all this good news about the milleridge, as i am having my reception in the carriage house. i did a tasting a few months ago and i agree the crepe is great!also the chataeu briand is amazing, and i do not even eat red meat!

someone was concerned about CH being outside. i think they will be able to fit 75 people. they put a nice tent over it too. i am concerned about it raining and trying to fit the whole cocktail hour inside....

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Just got back from the honeymoon and wanted to drop all the Milleridge brides a quick note - I had my wedding at the Cottage and everything was amazing! Food was great, service was great - Kristy (banquet manager), Steve (maitre'd), and Pam (bridal attendant) were all fantastic, and the Cottage looked beautiful. Will post pictures soon, and a more complete review later, but for now, you should know everything was beautiful and tasty!

Oh, and I used the Milleridge Florist too and Chris did a fantastic job - bouquets, centerpieces (which we upgraded), etc. were all gorgeous!

Any specific questions, please feel free to FM.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

hey ladies!
well i attended a wedding at Milleridge last night. it was a small reception, held in the restaurant, upstairs. the bride, Nina (nhcaruso on liw) was BEAUTIFUL. so happy to have shared the day with her!

the food was DELICIOUS. i don't think there was one thing i didn't like. pasta station was penne a la vodka--yummy! carving meats were so good-they served them with gravy and i went back for seconds. lol the raw bar was amazing! a giant table of HUGE oysters, big shrimp, crab claws, and whole lobstsers!! the appetizer was fresh mozzarella & tomato basil--yummy. caesar salad--i loved the dressing. i had the filet mignon for my dinner and it came our perfectly cooked.

they also had the vienesse hour--and oh my GAWD--those deserts were beyond mouth watering. chocolate ice cream, cannollis, cream puffs, cheese cake, chocoalate mousse cake, etc. SO MUCH STUFF!

now i've stated all the good--but as we all know, there can be some small negative things:

--Service: i found the service of the staff was a bit less than i would hope for. during the CH--we were unsure about where to put plates. the guy at the carving station said to just leave them at the table and they would be bussed. well it took them a long time to do this. so a lot of people just wound up stacking up their plates on a stand next to the bar. also--our waiter never once took drink orders. i don't know if maybe that's just the way they do it--but you had to get your own drinks the entire night. (which was okay since it was very close by)

i kind of felt like the waitstaff was rushing us. like putting a plate down and wanting to pick it up QUICK. for example--there WAS an intermezzo--but i didn't get to sample it. it was being brought out just as i went to grab a quick smoke. not gone more than 5-8 min. then i came back inside--guess what? they had already taken our intermezzo's away to clear for dinner. as i was talkking with people at our table during dinner--with a little less than half of my steak remaining on the plate--they grabbed my plate and cleared it before i could say i wasn't done yet.

oh and there were some other issues that arose. i will just say that make sure you let the hall and your BM there know who is authorized to make changes or finalize details. due to some communication issues--some things weren't set up the way the bride wanted and it upset her a bit.

all in all it was a GREAT day. i'm creating an album right now online of pics--and will share them later!

Is anyone paying to get the stairway railing decorated?
If so, what was the price quote?
SunBride07 Posted:

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I think I'm going to decorate the stairs - I haven't looked into florists yet so I'm not sure about the cost...I will post when I know.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

We used the Milleridge Florist - they charged us a little over $400 if I remember correctly, which I thought was actually pretty steep for some tulle and flowers, but since we were using them for everything else, and they were otherwise very reasonably priced, we didn't want to bother with another florist. We used them for decorating the church and upgraded our centerpieces pretty significantly for a great price (for peonies no less), so by the time MIL remembered that we should decorate the staircase too, it wasn't worth trying to get the price down. In the end, we still had a good price for the whole package.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Hey everyone!

I'm putting together my review but wanted to get my favorite pictures up on my own website and my community album. So far, I have about 40 up on my own photo gallery which can be found here:

http://www.greenfreak.net/greengallery/index.php

I wasn't present for the entire cocktail hour and I can't tell you if anyone complained about not getting a seat. Since it was a little cool under the tent, many of the women stood in the sun (or put on their husband's suit jacket!). There were some relatives that were sitting by that little wooden bench by the driveway too. And we only had 76 adults so I guess it was pretty tight. It didn't matter for us with the weather but if it's iffy, I'd say to call them the day before and do the CH inside. Kristy said I could call her less than 2 hours before if I wanted to.

The food, amazing. I didn't have a heck of a lot of it but between Samir the Maitre D, Anna my Bridal Assistant, my husband, and my sister, someone kept shoving plates and drinks into my hands! What I did eat was good, that I can say.

Here's a shot of the room with our CP's from the florist:

There were two (good) surprises with the flowers. I had already paid for 8 centerpieces when I realized that the kid's table didn't have one. We asked them instead to put an empty vase on the table with some seaglass in the bottom to weigh it down and the 2 jr. bridesmaids could put their bouquets in instead.

Not only was there a full CP on their table, but there was also a big one on our dais too that we didn't pay for! Considering each of them cost about $90., that was quite a nice surprise.

This is my bouquet:

I loved it, it came out better than I thought it would. The 2 girl's bouquets and my Mom's nosegay also came out beautiful, they were roses and hydrangea. My only complaint was that by the middle of the reception, the edges of the roses in the girl's bouquets were bruised and misshaped. Probably from them being laid on the table, picked up, laid on the table, etc. I just thought they would last the day at least.

If you can help it, tell them no roses on the outside edge of the bouquet to avoid that.

Our cake was a combination of things we saw in the book, we didn't spend extra money on it:

You can see what I mean about the girl's bouquets in this picture too.

That is a whipped cream/pound cake with 'swiss dots' on the outside of each tier, sugar flowers, and I gave them that green satin ribbon that I got at Michael's for about a dollar. Simple, elegant. We are not big cake people. I liked the chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce SO much better!

I'm sorry that I don't have any more pics yet, I'm doing them in chronological order and only started the ceremony pics so far. But that link up there will be updated more than my community album so keep watching!

I'd love to answer any questions in this thread, FM, comments on my photo gallery, anything.

I'll post some more pics here on the Milleridge when they're done.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I've been working on the photos for hours and hours and finally finished just now!

This is the first peek, I tried to include a few pics that might interest you Milleridge Carriage House brides. And a few thrown in here and there.

Review will be done this week!

Here ya go:

Our ceremony location, Coe Hall at Planting Fields Arboretum:

Sealed with a kiss:

Recessional:

Under the arbor in the rose garden:

Ok, here are some cocktail hour shots where you can get an idea of the setup/amount of people:

(by the way, I hated those plastic rose things wrapped around the poles but they're probably better than a bare pole)

Here's our dais table, the two big pots in front were at the ceremony too. My sister brought them and within an hour, I had knocked one over.

The CP on our table was free; we didn't know it was going to be there or pay for it.

I recommend telling your guests about the handicap bathroom on the ground floor. Everyone from the cocktail hour kept coming in and going downstairs.

Here's us having a pseudo-private moment. By the way, we had 9 tables (one oval, the rest round), not including our dais:

This will give you an idea of the room in between each table. Unless you're wearing a big-*** dress, you shouldn't have a problem getting by.

Our first dance:

Dancing with Dad:

The Electric Slide!

Father Daughter dance:

Father Daughter joke time:

Me and Mom:

Hubby, myself, my brother in law and sister:

My nieces and nephews having a great time:

Stopping to enjoy the moment:

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll get my review up this week, I promise!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

thanks for the pics! they really are helpful. i plan on having 9 tables as well. and your pics of the cocktail hour are really great. they help put things into perpective. it doesnt look crowded at all. now i have to pray it doesnt rain for CH
greenfreak Posted:

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

You're welcome, it's my pleasure!

I'll pray for you too but there's certainly enough room to setup the CH inside. You could even tell the DJ to start playing dance music before the CH is over, get more people out there!

Where is your ceremony, is it closeby?
