We used the Milleridge Florist - they charged us a little over $400 if I remember correctly, which I thought was actually pretty steep for some tulle and flowers, but since we were using them for everything else, and they were otherwise very reasonably priced, we didn't want to bother with another florist. We used them for decorating the church and upgraded our centerpieces pretty significantly for a great price (for peonies no less), so by the time MIL remembered that we should decorate the staircase too, it wasn't worth trying to get the price down. In the end, we still had a good price for the whole package.

I can't wait to see pics!!

You're welcome, it's my pleasure!

I'll pray for you too but there's certainly enough room to setup the CH inside. You could even tell the DJ to start playing dance music before the CH is over, get more people out there!

Where is your ceremony, is it closeby?

st rose in massapequa. it is at 3.30. then we are going to vanderbilt in centerport then to milleridge. CH starts at 6.30. a lot of driving, but i couldnt find anywhere to take pics indoors in case it rains. couldnt take a chance as there is no where to take pics at the carriage house.

thanks again!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Do you have to tip the maitre'd or was that included in the contract?

SunBride07 Posted:

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

You have to tip him - I can't remember exactly how much per person
greenfreak Posted:

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Most people recommend $2-$5 per guest. We gave him $3. per guest, middle of the road. He was a nice guy, did a good job, and we had no problems.

There was nothing spectacular that we were WOWED about. To me, the tip is an extra for a job well done. I think $3. per person is sufficient to convey that. Besides, at that point, the money pool is thin.

Who was your maitre'd?

FM if you would like

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

That's ok. It was Samir. He was totally cool, no complaints. It's just that there were other vendors who I had had formed a relationship over the year we were planning that I felt better about spending more money tipping. I thought our tip was appropriate. Hopefully he did too.

We asked the Milleridge what we should tip the maitre'd and Kristy said $1-3 / person. We had Steve and he was really great so we did $3 / person and added on another $75 because he was so good to us all night.

Thanks mbm. That makes me feel better about what we gave. And Kristy was our BM too so she would have told us the same thing.

I did but I had a lot of OOT guests - including my entire family so we kind of had to do this. We used Elite and they were fine for the most part - I wasn't entirely happy with what happened at the end of the night and I thought they were overpriced, but it was memorial day weekend so there weren't exactly many options out there - far too many buses going to the Hamptons and Elite had gotten good reviews on here. I felt scammed by them myself. Details'll be in the review or you can FM if you want to know more.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Hi Girls! I just wanted to let you know that I saw Bob at the Milleridge florist this past weekend he he was amazing!! I met with him for 2 hours!! He was so patient and really worked with my ideas! He was always willing to keep pulling flowers out for me to see what they would look like together. It was obvious that he really has a passion for floral design! He was so easy going and such a pleasure to work with!!!!

We are using the Wingate Inn in Garden City -- we got a great group rate and it includes breakfast! So far, they have been really easy to work with.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Melissa, what flowers did you decide on, or are you still looking at other florists? I liked Bob because he wasn't afraid to disagree with some of my choices. He's the expert and told me things that I hadn't thought of.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

I decided on a mix of colors and flowers - hydrangea, lillies, roses, gerber daisies and some others that I don't know the name of I received a quote for med/high CPs but I am going to go back and ask him for ideas on low CPs too. He was really great to work with! I haven't checked out any other florists.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Unrelated q here.
Sorry

Umm, for past brides, when did you tell the bakery about your cake design, particularly if it was different from the ones they have in the book?

Thanks.
