Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back, I'd pay more for photos/music.

Misty I was going to same the exact same thing. In hindsight I wish I gave more thought to my photography instead of the guest part (i.e, food).

For my photo, music, and the guests and my FH and I getting what we want all day long!!!

I put the site way up there in importance...i really think that my guests were blown away by the food and service at our wedding...and thats exactly how I wanted my guests to be treated...it is still being talked about...(over a year later)

I also wanted the perfect setting for the site and pictures...I know I could have just gone to the beach to take pictures...but I loved that my hall was there...



of course music and photos are with the hall in importance...

I just want to add that money does not necessarily mean quality or importance. Just because something costs less does not necessarily mean it is not as good as something that is expensive.

I was a photo Major in college. We paid ALOT for our photos, But I think thats because i picked every photographer a part. I dont like this picture because..... and this one because..... In your eyes That is very important to u that u have a memory of it. But you should have a mental memory also (even though it goes so fast) But I think Food and DJ is very important because thats what ure guest will remember. They wont remember how ure photographer was. I am paying so much money also for my guest to enjoy themselves AND They better get everything they can. I also know people who did not get a video to save money. They had a family member or friend Video. I know people who didnt have the money for a photgrapher but got married in a nicer place and had a friend do the pictures. They still have their memories the just didnt pay 3000.00+ for it.

I am so glad to hear that photograhpy is at the top of everyone's list. In no way was I trying to cram my photographer down anyone's throat, but I was just shocked that this particular couple did not think photography was something to spend a few extra dollars on.

Video it wasn't at all important to me. I just wanted something basic to have as a keepsake but professionally done.

Food and the place goes hand in hand, they have to serve what my guest and I will recognize, like and eat.

As we can see from this post, what is important is different for everyone. For me, personally its the location, photos and band.

The most important part is that I am marrying the man I love and want to spend the rest of my life with. All the other stuff....reception/limo/photo/honeymoon etc etc...just the icing on the cake

For the both of us I would say photography.

The pictures are what is going to be with us for a lifetime.

I would say reception site first, then photography a verry close second. It was the one area I refused to cut corners.
Someone posted recently on the '04 board that they thought anyone spending alot of money on photography was crazy. I think it's crazy not to! Like everyone says, it's the memories you'll have for a lifetime, and what your grandchildren will be looking at. And I believe you get what you pay for in most instances.

The most important thing about my wedding will be that JT and I are married at the end of the day. Plain and simple. Ok, that was the 'important' thing, but I think I just want it to be a balance between everything. I would LOVE for all the little things to be noticed, so I think that it's the little details that will make my day unique. I understand the whole photo/video being the most important to some people, but no matter what, I will have photos and a video, I want the memory of the entire package put together.

There are many important things to me when it comes to my wedding and my marriage...but photography is way up on there on the list.

Maybe your friends found another photographer that they liked better...

My photographer and Honeymoon were the most important and the vendors we were willing to spend the most on. I believe that when the day is done and over with all you have left is your pics and video and it will most likely be the last big vacation we have since we plan to start having kids next summer. That is just me though eveyone is different. I felt that with my hall I wanted to be happy with my place ( which i am and I love) but I know i am not going to please everyone and I don't want to pay $$ for something i will not have to look at (and I won't even be eating most likely that night) in 20 years. Again this is just how I feel and different things are important to different people and the food might be more important to your friend then her pics and you have to respect that.
