Would love to get a feel for this, even though everyone's different. Past brides, can you tell us future brides who are scared about their guest list being too big (like me!) how many people you invited and how many people you actually had at your wedding? Did the 20% rule apply to you?

206 invited, 152 attended.
44 responded no, 2 never responded at all, 8 no-shows the day of.

We were married the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so in our case, we knew we would have more 'no's' because many people were away, with family, etc. We invited about 175 and had 120 guests.

we got about 100 NOs out of 250 but a lot were out of state (i think thats a lot more than average)

We had a smaller wedding (60 guests) so my percentages may be more useful than the actaul #'s

I am obviously not married yet either but i got about 10 no's so far from people that i assumed would be coming. I think i will end up with less than i thought.

We were married the Friday after Thanksgiving and most of our no's came from out of town guests.

Thanks for posting - very useful. We are having a small wedding so we think that most people we invite would come because they are all family or really close friends. We expect just a few to RSVP no because of work or other family obligations but if 20% decline that would be really horrible! We have about 85 on our guest list right now, and we expect to get 75-80 there, but maybe we are really off! we do have a very short 'B' list we could go to if need be, because we have a 75 minimum anyway. Or I can invite some close work people, which I wasn't going to do.

we had 290 yes and about 60-70 no's (some people were invited via word of mouth, so i don't remember the exact total number invited ). we were expected about 340 yes, so we were pleasantly surprised
