Would love to get a feel for this, even though everyone's different. Past brides, can you tell us future brides who are scared about their guest list being too big (like me!) how many people you invited and how many people you actually had at your wedding? Did the 20% rule apply to you?

We invited 204 and had 152 RSVP yes...and 4 no shows (2 couples)
I really think it varies on whether you send out STDs, if it s a holiday weekend etc.
Also, what helped us get an idea of our Yes/No numbers-we knew who was going to come and who wasnt...so we broke our list down into sections-one for Definite yes, maybe and no..we were off by 6 people

hi,
we have a 350 guarantee, how many people should we invite to potentially meet that. its a sunday night. Not too many out of town guests. probably 20.

We were married the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so in our case, we knew we would have more 'no's' because many people were away, with family, etc. We invited about 175 and had 120 guests.
similar situation- got married on the 4th of July so we also knew we'd have a lot of No's (thank god)
We invited 210ish and had 142

I hope you don't mind if I ask a question about your question...Did anyone send out 'Save-the-Dates' before the wedding invitations? Do you think it helped get more 'yes' responses? I just sent out save-the-date magnets about a month ago and am really curious! Thanks in advance!!!!

168 invited......120 rsvp'd yes....about 105 to 110 showed

OKAY...I am confused....this whole no show thing is bothering me....who doesnt show when they have RSVPd yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!....(barring emergencies)

Im not married yet, but most of my responses are in and I have to say that a LOT of people we thought would come responded no.
This is happening to me also....=( Not happy...Will most likely invite more people that I work with....We'll see
