I am all for it. If you can afford it, and it makes you look better, feel more confident...go for it!!

Other people can do what they want, but I personally would never do it.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I also think that if you want to make yourself look better and have the money, there is absolutly nothing wrong with it.
Of course, any surgery thats not medically neccasary, should really be thought out..

I wonder how many of us would change our minds if we felt that it was 100% safe and LOTS cheaper.
I would love to get lipo on my tummy but I dont feel comfortable with the risks that the doctor told me about.. I'm just chicken I guess but I do envy all the girls that just 'Go For It'

Re: Plastic Surgery?

Whatever floats your boat. This is a very personal decision for people and I could care less what they do with their bodies. I am only concerned for very young kids (mainly girls) who are doing this. I have definitely considered breast reduction for purely cosmetic reasons, but I am chicken and I am worried about scarring. I am also concerned because these huge 40 DDs are a part of me. They are what god intended for me to have.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

The way I see it, plastic surgery becomes taboo in this society because people are always talking about low self esteem, and you should be happy with yourself the way you are... and I think that when a person decides to alter their appearance with plastic surgery, it can be interpreted as 'the only way I'm gonna like myself is if I look like this.' Not necessarily true for all people but it is true for some.

And then you have the freaks like Michael Jackson and the cat lady (saw her face to face one...man is she funny looking!)

Personally, I flip back and forth between wanting it and not wanting it... sure I could probably look better but I like the way I look now too, so I'll stay the way I am.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I am not for or against it. I admire people that have the guts to have surgery to correct something they are not happy with. Personally, I would never have elective/cosmetic surgery. I'm a chicken

But I do think some people judge others by appearances. It's a sad and shallow value to base opinions but it happens all the time.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I say if it makes you happy and you can afford it, do it. My GF just got her breast lifted and her tummy tucked, she loves it and she feels better about herself. I am happy for her. I have thought about what I would have done, but I am way too scared.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I am not really for or against I guess. If its not a life threathening situation no doctor can touch me. I am too scared.

If thats what one wants to do heh do your thing.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I always think about doing it.

I look at photos and there's so many things I would like to change. But I doubt I would follow through with 90% of those changes.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

Theresa, GO GIRL!
Do what makes you happy you only make this 'trip' once.

I don't absolutely LOVE my body but then again who really does and if down the line I would want to make some improvements then I will.

Do what you feel is comfortable for YOU!

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I am not sure how someone can be against plastic surgery. I would never get anything done (barring some terrible accident that required it) but I would never have an abortion either. It doesn't mean I don't fully believe that every woman has the right to make that choice.

I am very comfortable with the way that I look and so cosmetic surgery is not something that I think about. But I don't care what other people do, nor do I care about their reasons.

Although I am somewhat disturbed by the stomach stapling procedures, but only because I associate it with the chinese binding females' feet

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I was a breech baby (started coming out feet first) so they had to turn me around - inside the womb - while doing so they grabbed my ear with the forceps (hey - it was 1973) and so I have an 'indentation' in my ear...kids noticed it in elementary school - and would ask what happened

I couldn't wait to get my ears pierced so I could cover it up...the week before the wedding I realized I did not have a pair of earrings that would cover it up and look good with the dress...I freaked...everybody said they never noticed...but I know its there...and DID NOT want it in my wedding pictures!!! So since DH couldn't afford to get me 3 carat diamond earrings (1.5 each at least)...I went to Target...CZs baby...

I know it sounds silly...but I am self-conscious about it...people don't mean to be harsh...but I hate it when someone points it out and I have to explain the entire situation...

my MIL said she would pay for my to get it fixed...but I feel like I should just **** it up...

so if money grew on trees...yes I would get plastic surgery!! I would get my ear fixed...

If liposuction was completely safe...I would do it...

Also remember breast reduction is also considered PS...and I know a few people who have done it for medical/back reasons...

but I take the 'to each her own' and 'if it makes you feel good' attitude...

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I just want to try and restate my point-I am not at all against plastic surgery, many of my friends have had it, some of family members have had it and I don't think any different of them at all. I personally, would love to get a boob augmentation but #1, I am kind of afraid of risks, the pain, etc... and #2, I really don't have the extra cash and there is so much more i'd rather spend my money on-hey if it were free, I might consider. But for now, I know my FH is happy w/ my body (otherwise he wouldn't be my FH) so why change?
So, no hard feelings towards anyone, okay?
Edited for typos

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I am not for or against plastic surgery. I feel everyone is entitled to treat his/her own body as they see fit. What I am against is people who blast others for their opinion.

Re: Plastic Surgery?

I had my nose done when I was 16. I have friends that have implants. I also have a few that had reductions. My grandmother had her nose, eyes and neck done. I say if you can afford it and you want it, go for it!

Edited to add that you must also be aware of the risk involved. It IS surgery. I had a relative die on the table getting implants in Mexico (where she lived).
