Rave about your favorite products

Original post by Espo22

I wanted to rave about something new I used recently and how great it worked for me, so thought maybe i'd find out about other products people use that are amazing.

Ok i have VERY thin hair, and have used NUMEROUS products that say they give you volume and they really dont. Recently I used one that seriously gave me so much volume, never used anything that did it this well. My hair is so thin that i HAVE to wash it everyday bc it gets oily and looks bad. Today i woke up and it still had so much volume and looked great and not oily at all so decided to FINALLY give my hair a rest from washing it for one day. You're not supposed to but i normally have no choice.

I used Kerastase-expanseur extra-corps. Its thickening action for weakened hair.

Also use the Kerastase bain volume shampoo and then after put on this other kerastase thing called ciment anti-usure, its a fortifying treatment.

Also alterna hemp shampoo and conditioner is AMAZING. When i use the alterna shampoo or kerastase shampoo its such a huge difference when doing my hair after, usually it takes longer to do bc of the ends but with this the hair looks great and dont have to do much with it.

also loving the bare minerals faux tan bronzer.

Ok thats it for me lol, wanna hear about other products ppl are using. I figure as women we are always looking for new hair products, make up, skincare

ETA: jess posted kitchen products, these are more than welcome too, any home things

I love Avalon Organic Shampoo with tee tree oil from this natural store in Astoria. And I recently bought a conditioner called Organix and it has tee tree oil in it too. Those two things together make my hair so soft. And it actually dries nice.

I love lancome Acqua Tiente tinted moisturizer. I am very fair skinned and It covers so well without making me look orange.

I also love Body by Victoria Perfume and Hypnose by Lancome.

I use Hypnose Mascara by lancome as well.

I love, love, love Chanel Glossimer in Spark. It goes on perfect! I also like the Juicy Tubes from Lancome.

Bringing it back into the kitchen!

**Silicone Zone® Kitchenzone Cutting Boards
These are great because they're easy to clean and you never have to worry about cutting your veggies on a board you just cut you chicken on because there are seperate boards for everything (chicken, fish, meat, and veggies). They should go on every registry!

LINK

On to the makeup... I looooves me some makeup!
The products that I'm recommending are more expensive, but worth every single fargin penny... promise!!!

**Philosophy, Hope in a Jar Moisturizure
Since I started wearing makeup years ago I was a tride and true Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion user. I looked down my nose at every other lotion out there. But I noticed as I'm getting older, my skin is changing the amazin yellow stuff in a bottle was only adding to the oily-ness of my skin. So, Mrs. LuvMyAlfonse told me about Hope in a Jar and I went out and tried it and was AMAZED!!! My skin has never been better and the I was able to see a difference in a week! And even though it's expensive, a little bit goes a long way so this jar is going to last you a while.
(They even sell some with SPF in it, but I dont' use that because I find that the SPF factor changes the feel of the lotion and how it goes on).

LINK

**LORAC Breakthrough Performance Foundation
I found this when I got a sample of it at Sephora for spending loads of money (that damn Sephora!!). Again, as I was getting older I noticed that my skintone was getting uneven and I would have random red blotches all over (ahhh, the luck of the Irish). Well, since I was never really a foundation user, I thought I'd give the sample a try and I couldn't believe how great this product was! The smallest drop evened out my skintone and made the blotchiness disappear (a miricle!). And it's not cakey and heavy... it's actually really like so I dont' feel like I'm wearing pounds of makeup at all.

LINK

**Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara
This mascara has a HUGE brush, but don't let it scare you or make you think because it's huge it's going to clump... there is NO CLUMPING. I love the huge bruch because I have ridiculously long eyelashes so it helps get the mascara on in one or two sweeps instead of going over the lashes a million times to get even coverage. This is also great because one sweep of the brush does the trick and make you lashes look great but then if you want to layer it on for nighttime, you can go to town and it will still look great. It only comes in black and blue (I'm not sure about the blue).

LINK

I could go on about NARS but everyone else already did, but I will say a quick not about their bronzer 'Laguna'... amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**Benefit Gee...That Was Quick! Oil-Free Makeup Remover
OK, I don't know about you guys... but I could never find a makeup remover for my entire face... everything was just for the eyes. But Benefit makes this amazing, light, oil-free makeup remover that works so well... it takes off every inch of makeup pretty easily. I usually have to use 2 cotton balls to get the job done but I think that might be because I'm a tish nurotic about getting my makeup off before I wash my face. In any case, I love this stuff.

LINK

**Anew Face Cleansers for all ages.
Again, since I could remember I was a tride and true Nuetragena user. My mom always used it and when I went away to college she always sent some up so it was all I really knew. Well, Nuetragena is expensive and the non-fragrence kind is all I could ever find (and IMO, it smells rancid) so I needed a switch (not to mention I was on a new BCP that was reeking havok on my skin and the Nuetrogena wasn't cutting it). After trying all of the creams and acne solutions out there I decided to try Anew and let me tell you, I'm not looking back. Yes, it's more expensive than Nuetragena but I've found that buying it on eBay is the way to go and I buy it from the same seller time and time again. I use the Ultra Cream Cleanser in the morning when I wake up and then at night (in the shower) I use the Retroactive 2-in-1 Cleaner and then I use the Clarifying Essence Toner after. I love it and I don't think I'll ever look back!!

I loooove proactiv- had the same problem though as denise- so in the morning, I use the cleanser but not the astringent and I use my regular moisturizer (has spf and is creamier) and at night I use the 3-step set, I've been doing this for about two weeks and so far no dryness.

Re: Rave about your favorite products

Oooh I'm a total product junkie...so here's my fav products that actually work!!

1) I tan very easily but in the winter months I get this nasty pasty color, I used to use tanning beds, but I know they're no good for you so now I use this...it's great and you just put a little on w/ foundation brush and your skin almost instantly tans, and not the orangey tint either, like a bona fide TAN!

Face tint

2) I have very thin and short eyelashes, but this conditioner is AMAZING, especially paired w/ Lancome or Diorshow Blackout mascara...but you need a month or so to see actual growth of your eyelashes w/out mascara

Eyelash conditioner

I also have very fine and damaged hair...I'll try that Keratase thickener thanks!!!

Oh, that's the dry shampoo I have! I like it a lot and it has a nice smell.

I love the Kerastase line. I finally tried it, but I don't have the one you do, Denise. I have the one in the orange bottle...I definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my hair.

I also love Phytocitrus shampoo and masque...love how it makes my hair nice and soft. All of the Phyto products are great. Phtodefrisant is great when you blow your hair out.

I also love Logics mousse. I feel like it gives my hair some body when I blow it out and it smells so good too.

I just splurged because I've been trying to take care of my skin a little better before the wedding on Kinerase Gentle Daily Cleanser. I've only been using it about a week and I feel like my skin looks nicer (less blotchy) and feels softer.

yeah the kerastase products im using are the all green bottle

GREAT thread!
Okay. here goes.

My best kept secret: BABY OIL! It is super cheap but it is great. I rub it on my legs before shaving and I get a SUPER smooth shave. After a shower I rub it all over and then rinse off quick and I have the best skin! Just be careful because it makes the shower slippery.

I LOVE NARS casino bronzer and NARS o-gasm blush.

DDF Acne Scrub. I used this on my back for a long time but now it stopped working ( after years ) it takes the redness out of pimples right away and then slowly gets rid of them. I also use the Neutrogena Acne scrub which works great as well.

Oil of Olay - my mom is 60 and has ZERO wrinkles because of this stuff so I use it every morning and every night!

I won't recommend anything for hair since my hair looks like POOP right now LOL

OH! and bringing it to the house stuff. When I use windex I now only use it with OLD NEWSPAPER. No streaks and NO fuzzies from the paper! Try it!!

i have the same annoying hair as you lol. i haaate having to wash everyday. i literally get oily hair in less than 24 hrs. i love my hair straight so of course i have to blow it out everyday too unless i just put some mousse and let it air dry. im going to have to try those products soon.

what do you put in your hair before blowing btw?

i use the kerastase expanseur extra corps i mentioned. Its a spray, and they say just to spray your hair from roots to ends while its still wet and then blow dry your hair

Hey Denise...I have hair exactly like yours (i cannot wait to do the newlywed chop it is sooo dead haha) and I hate washing my hair everyday because I have to. So I definitely am going to try this stuff...thanks for the rec! Just a question though- where can I find this stuff?? In Sephora or a drugstore or an actual salon?
