Rave about your favorite products

Original post by Espo22

I wanted to rave about something new I used recently and how great it worked for me, so thought maybe i'd find out about other products people use that are amazing.

Ok i have VERY thin hair, and have used NUMEROUS products that say they give you volume and they really dont. Recently I used one that seriously gave me so much volume, never used anything that did it this well. My hair is so thin that i HAVE to wash it everyday bc it gets oily and looks bad. Today i woke up and it still had so much volume and looked great and not oily at all so decided to FINALLY give my hair a rest from washing it for one day. You're not supposed to but i normally have no choice.

I used Kerastase-expanseur extra-corps. Its thickening action for weakened hair.

Also use the Kerastase bain volume shampoo and then after put on this other kerastase thing called ciment anti-usure, its a fortifying treatment.

Also alterna hemp shampoo and conditioner is AMAZING. When i use the alterna shampoo or kerastase shampoo its such a huge difference when doing my hair after, usually it takes longer to do bc of the ends but with this the hair looks great and dont have to do much with it.

also loving the bare minerals faux tan bronzer.

Ok thats it for me lol, wanna hear about other products ppl are using. I figure as women we are always looking for new hair products, make up, skincare

ETA: jess posted kitchen products, these are more than welcome too, any home things

I love this thread denise, and I'm taking it for a turn and bringing it into the kitchen! In my wishing well at my shower someone threw this in and it's the most amazing invention---ever! It chops garlic. You put it in and roll the little thingy and then you have really small chopped garlic. I love cooking but hate chopping garlic because I can't get it small enough so this was a perfect gift for me! You can get them at BBB for $9.99

What is the name of this gadget...im searching all over BBB...

OOh I love this topic

Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara - is amazing! I've tried a hundred different mascaras and this has me hooked!!

Urband Decay - 24/7 Glide on eye pencil. This is the most amazing thing ever made. It literally stays on all day and it goes on so smooth! Loves it

Re: Rave about your favorite products

my favorite shampoos and conditioners are KMS moisture and bain Satin by Kerastase. I actually see a difference when I use these.

Face creams: Aveeno and Creme de La Mer. Aveeno is a nice feel and the La mer is great, but sort of thick so its probably best for colder months- but will work wonders on very dry skin.

Body lotion: Jergans

And I have to rave about Aquafore. I use it on my lips and it works! My lips were beyond dry this past winter and like the skin around them was getting cracked and gross. Id never had that happen before and I used like 8 things and was freaking out cus the wedding was comming up and my friend told me to use this and it cleared it up like overnight.

ETA:

I love Netrogena body oil in the winter. My skin gets so dry in the winter and this really works great.

Also for dry faces, Bobbi Brown makes a face oil. And it doesnt feel oily when you put it on. It just makes my face feel really soft.

toothpaste for pimples- it drys them out! I usually get them one at a time and they are usually big.

For the kitchen- I got a vegetable chop and measure from William and Sonomaand it actually works- and works very well!!!

Re: Rave about your favorite products

Nars lipglosses:
stolen kisses
rose kitane
risky business

Bobbi Brown lipglosses:
cocoa sugar
rose sugar

Smashbox:
35mm

Lipfusion:
Dream - though the plumping action sometimes it a bit too much for me since I didn't need the extra plumping, but it does work for those that like.

Lancome Bronzer:
Star Bronzer - addicted to it during the summer I use it as a blush instead

Oh for eyeliner I use an incredible Kohl eyeliner from india (I do not use it during the summer at much but during the fall or when i want a more dramatic eye.
It is hard to find, but you can search

For the kitchen:
from William Sonoma
Glassware Drying Mat - it is great for stemware & any glass stuff you want to get dry but do not have room on your rack to dry

drying mat

For hair:
Simply Straight Keratin Finishing Gloss - LOVE THIS. I have alot of hair & the summer can sometime be cruel to it. This smooths it down & keeps the frizzies away. You'd also use this product (along with the shampoo & conditioner) if you had a brazilian relaxer done

Bringing it back into the kitchen!

**Silicone Zone® Kitchenzone Cutting Boards
These are great because they're easy to clean and you never have to worry about cutting your veggies on a board you just cut you chicken on because there are seperate boards for everything (chicken, fish, meat, and veggies). They should go on every registry!

LINK

On to the makeup... I looooves me some makeup!
The products that I'm recommending are more expensive, but worth every single fargin penny... promise!!!

**Philosophy, Hope in a Jar Moisturizure
Since I started wearing makeup years ago I was a tride and true Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion user. I looked down my nose at every other lotion out there. But I noticed as I'm getting older, my skin is changing the amazin yellow stuff in a bottle was only adding to the oily-ness of my skin. So, Mrs. LuvMyAlfonse told me about Hope in a Jar and I went out and tried it and was AMAZED!!! My skin has never been better and the I was able to see a difference in a week! And even though it's expensive, a little bit goes a long way so this jar is going to last you a while.
(They even sell some with SPF in it, but I dont' use that because I find that the SPF factor changes the feel of the lotion and how it goes on).

LINK

**LORAC Breakthrough Performance Foundation
I found this when I got a sample of it at Sephora for spending loads of money (that damn Sephora!!). Again, as I was getting older I noticed that my skintone was getting uneven and I would have random red blotches all over (ahhh, the luck of the Irish). Well, since I was never really a foundation user, I thought I'd give the sample a try and I couldn't believe how great this product was! The smallest drop evened out my skintone and made the blotchiness disappear (a miricle!). And it's not cakey and heavy... it's actually really like so I dont' feel like I'm wearing pounds of makeup at all.

LINK

**Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara
This mascara has a HUGE brush, but don't let it scare you or make you think because it's huge it's going to clump... there is NO CLUMPING. I love the huge bruch because I have ridiculously long eyelashes so it helps get the mascara on in one or two sweeps instead of going over the lashes a million times to get even coverage. This is also great because one sweep of the brush does the trick and make you lashes look great but then if you want to layer it on for nighttime, you can go to town and it will still look great. It only comes in black and blue (I'm not sure about the blue).

LINK

I could go on about NARS but everyone else already did, but I will say a quick not about their bronzer 'Laguna'... amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**Benefit Gee...That Was Quick! Oil-Free Makeup Remover
OK, I don't know about you guys... but I could never find a makeup remover for my entire face... everything was just for the eyes. But Benefit makes this amazing, light, oil-free makeup remover that works so well... it takes off every inch of makeup pretty easily. I usually have to use 2 cotton balls to get the job done but I think that might be because I'm a tish nurotic about getting my makeup off before I wash my face. In any case, I love this stuff.

LINK

**Anew Face Cleansers for all ages.
Again, since I could remember I was a tride and true Nuetragena user. My mom always used it and when I went away to college she always sent some up so it was all I really knew. Well, Nuetragena is expensive and the non-fragrence kind is all I could ever find (and IMO, it smells rancid) so I needed a switch (not to mention I was on a new BCP that was reeking havok on my skin and the Nuetrogena wasn't cutting it). After trying all of the creams and acne solutions out there I decided to try Anew and let me tell you, I'm not looking back. Yes, it's more expensive than Nuetragena but I've found that buying it on eBay is the way to go and I buy it from the same seller time and time again. I use the Ultra Cream Cleanser in the morning when I wake up and then at night (in the shower) I use the Retroactive 2-in-1 Cleaner and then I use the Clarifying Essence Toner after. I love it and I don't think I'll ever look back!!

ANEW Ultra Cream Cleanser

ANEW RETROACTIVE+ 2-in-1 Cleanser

ANEW Clarifying Essence

first- I LOVE those cutting boards- they are awesome..I'm a germ freak, so they are perfect.

two- all the Anew products rock. Okay, I'll admit I'm an avon junkie! Every single one of their products that I've used actually worked. Under eye-cream, stretch mark cream, shampoo, deodorant. Ok, I sound like a commercial. Umm, I use so many of their products that I became a representative to get my products 50$ off.

You sell Avon? I need an Avon lady! Where are you located?

Woohoo I'm in Queens, but Fh is in Suffolk everyday for work, FM me and we can work something out!!

Creme be la mer makes 'The Moisturizing Lotion' which is perfect for warm weather & those that do not like the heavier one

I got hooked on some products by Sabon, they have a store in Roosevelt field. Their products are from israel from the Dead Sea

I have those bumps on my upper arms and have never found anything that works as good as this stuff
I love the moisturizer too!
I use Vanilla Coconut!

For my Face i use Chanel Precision ultra correction eye cream

And i use the Rectifiance Face cream with spf 15

And i use Chanel eye makeup remover, its so gentle and works amazing

One more
Laura Mercier Almond Coconut body souffle cream
It smells amazing,

Ooh, I love the Laura Mercier body souffle. I still haven't bought it yet, but I've gotten a sample. I LOVE anything coconut or vanilla. Thanks for the Sabon info. I've never had that problem before and all of a sudden I feel like there are a little. I used a scrub the other night, which seemed to help. But, I'll try this too!

Re: Rave about your favorite products

ProActiv 3 Step. I only use all 3 steps once a day though. Otherwise it's too harsh on my face.

Clinique All About Eyes Rich. I have VERY dark circles under my eyes and this seems to work pretty well on lightening them up.

MAC Full Coverage Foundation. I KNOW MAC is bad for you bc it's not non comedogenic, but, I love it.

Frederic Fekkai Full Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. Probably the BEST shampoo and conditioner for fine hair that I have ever used. Fekkai really makes some of the best hair products. They're a lil pricey though.

Philosophy 3 in 1's. Any and all. I am in <3 with these.

Escada Limited Edition Fragrances. Anyone that knows me knows that these are my signature scents. LOL. They make one limited edition every year and they always come in this really pretty heart shaped bottle and they always smell tropical.

what can I rave about? i only have one.

Cetaphil daily fash wash, this product is amazing as a daily skin cleanser. it is so gentle and kicks butt on any pimples. I don't even remove makeup before using it..just splash and go..
Cetaphil

ETA: Secret Clinical Strength--by far the BEST deodorant I have EVER used (and I've been on perscription!)

GREAT thread!
Okay. here goes.

My best kept secret: BABY OIL! It is super cheap but it is great. I rub it on my legs before shaving and I get a SUPER smooth shave. After a shower I rub it all over and then rinse off quick and I have the best skin! Just be careful because it makes the shower slippery.

I LOVE NARS casino bronzer and NARS o-gasm blush.

DDF Acne Scrub. I used this on my back for a long time but now it stopped working ( after years ) it takes the redness out of pimples right away and then slowly gets rid of them. I also use the Neutrogena Acne scrub which works great as well.

Oil of Olay - my mom is 60 and has ZERO wrinkles because of this stuff so I use it every morning and every night!

I won't recommend anything for hair since my hair looks like POOP right now LOL

OH! and bringing it to the house stuff. When I use windex I now only use it with OLD NEWSPAPER. No streaks and NO fuzzies from the paper! Try it!!

OMG I thought i was the only one.. I have to use this concoction of things before I shave. I too use BABY OIL, it just gets rid of the dryness of the pores. THis is the reason u get razor burn. I put it on a while b4 i shave. When i get into the shower I then use these rough scrub gloves to lift the hairs off the skins surface, and then shave.....

It really works....
