Reasons you do or don't live with FH?

So we've been having some saucy threads about gettin' it on... and it seems like alot of brides don't live with FH.

Im itchin' to know.. is it because your families are more 'traditional'? Is it because its cheaper? Whats the scoop?

FH and I live together because it is cheaper than having two studio apartments. (we haven't lived with our parents full-time for 10 years). PLUS, I kinda like to 'test the waters'.. I didnt want to move in all of a sudden when we got married and realize that it didn't work.

Whats YOUR deal?

Do not live with fh
1. trying to save $$ to move out and pay for a wedding
2. It was either live with fh or get married. decided its time to get married.
3. parents are very traditional. they will help me out so that i can move out and have a wedding if i live at home.
4. have my own apartment in my parents house with very minimal rent. parents won't let fh move in before marriage.

I haven't lived with FH since college (which was 6 years ago) becasue we went to two different medical schools and now he is doing his medical residency in Michigan. However i'm going to start my residency there in july. I'm so excited to finally have a home together!!!!!

i live with my FH and his parents because my mom kicked me out of the house and i had no where else to go.

We live with our parents still. Saving money for a house and the wedding and I'm traditional. We will get a house before the wedding but FH will move in first then I'll move in after the wedding.

I LIve at home and so does he. we can try and save some money living rent free, Plus my parents and his are very traditional ..

I don't live with FH because, I guess you can call me traditional. I don't want to live with him before we get married because I feel whats the excitement after the wedding? I want to have more to look foward to.
We do sleep over each others houses all the time (every week).

fh and i have rooms in our parents houses but we are together everyday we go to sleep together and we wake up together just in our parents houses.. rent free..

its wierd b/c our parents are traditional and won't let me move out until we are married.. i really don't see the differenece

Awww, that's sweet!

FH and I live together really just because we wanted to. I love coming home to him, sitting on the couch in silence doing nothing with him, cooking together, etc ... I just want him around all the time. Mom and dad didn't love it, but at 26 and financial supporting myself I wasn't going to have them tell me what to do. They're fine with it now, and have actually been to the apartment a number of times over the last 1.5 years.

We live together. We were dating for a while (~6 years), I had an apartment and FH had a very small co-op. We realized he'd make a pretty good profit on the co-op if he sold it but I didn't want him buying something else that was 'just his' at this point in our relationship so we decided to go for it and buy a place together. I always had the more traditional route in mind (engaged, marriage, house) but this worked for us, no regrets

We live together for 2 reasons...
1. He was staying over almost every night and the times he didn't we missed each other like CRAZY!!
2. I just think you should always live with the person you are going to marry before you get married so there are no suprises!

Though I totally see everyone else's points about saving $$ and being traditional, I personally agree with #2. I moved in with my ex-bf after dating for 8 years. AFter living together, I realized I really didnt love him like I had thought. It was such a wakeup call that I caught it before we thought about marriage. I didnt hate him, we didnt fight, I just realized that being together 24/7 was not something I was interested in for the long-term.

But thats obviously a very different case than what everyone else is going through. If my parents were uncomfortable with my living with FH I would definitely take that into consideration.

we don't live together for 2 reasons:
1. we live rent-free at home so that helps us alot financially especially when we're paying for a huge wedding
2. our parents are VERY traditional so they wouldn't be ok with us living together before we get married

I totally agree!! That happend with my ex boyfriend,, after we lived together.. I was like NO WAY CAN I DO THIS!!!

same here.

We plan on finding a home next summer...FH will move in over the summer, we'll furnish and design it together, but I won't move in til after the wedding.

i've lived with FH for 2 years - he moved to philly for med school so i followed b/c i missed him so much. but now, i'm moving back to LI at the end of the month - so we'll be apart for a year before the wedding... kinda sad and scary, but it'll be the last time I live with my mom. (I'm moving back for a better job and FH will do his residency in NY next year so I'm just getting a head start on money and apartments)
