Today is the say I say, 'goodbye' to one of my best friends. Over the weekend, my best friend (a bridesmaid) was involved in a car accident and didn't survive. Her husband was driving. They were coming back from a job out in Greenport early in the morning (he does extra side work mixing music and moving music stuff around like speakers -kind of like a roadie -in a way). Both of them had a great night (they haven't been out together in a long time) and they were on their way home to meet the babysitter. Thankfully, she had been sleeping. From what I heard, he dozed off quickly, and they hit a car on the side of the LIE. When he woke, after the crash, he tried to wake her but she wouldn't wake up. They just had their first baby together in March after many trials and tribulations. I'm still in shock.
At the wedding in 3 weeks, I was thinking of maybe having a small table with a few pictures of her, with her bouquet, and maybe a bridesmaid sash. I might have the groomsman who was supposed to walk with her, carry her bouquet too.
I plan to wear the necklace I bought her for the DOJ.
Maybe some of you ladies have ideas in which I can help remember her.

Re: Saying goodbye to bridesmaid
Thank you everyone. All your thoughts and prayers is what I needed.
It's been hard these past few days. The service and especially the burial were probably the hardest. Her husband is still in the hospital due to many surgeries and will hopefully be out on Monday but has many months of physical therapy. The baby is doing alright.
I know that she'll be there on the wedding day, celebrating along with us.

Saying goodbye to bridesmaid
so sorry for this loss. stay strong. i think its perfect to have her groom man walk down the isle alone ( with or with our her bouquet, its a great tribute)a moment of silence is perfect.. i would think about the table of photos. your wedding should be ( as best as possible under the circumstance) be a happy day. i think the photos might keep reminding people of something sad. and there going to go from happy to sad all night.( just something to think about.)

I just got chills reading this....I'm so sorry for your loss. Please know that she will be there in spirit to celebrate with you. I think the tribute of having the groomsman walk with her flowers is a great idea & maybe a charm on your bouquet. I will keep you, her family, & her baby in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong! xoxoxo

So sorry for you loss. I have a similar situation. One of my best friends was diagnosed with cancer on June 15th. She passed away on July 13th. I didn't even get to ask her to be my bridesmaid yet (was waiting to do it officially at our party next month) although, I know she knew she would be in my wedding. It's so sad to think that she won't be there now. Although I have a year left to go, I too will be doing something to honor her. I was thinking of doing a memorial candle with a picture of the 2 of us. We have so many from all the weddings we've been to together. Sometimes life just isn't fair :( hang in there.
