Seriously considering calling this wedding OFF

Re: Seriously considering calling this wedding OFF

Lots of for you. I am so glad that you talked to your FH about things. I think the best thing might be to go to couples therapy. It sounds like he is willing to work on things and therapy might be able to help you.

Whatever you decide, I hope it makes you happy. Please keep us posted.

Re: Seriously considering calling this wedding OFF

I am so sorry you are going through any of this. I have had MANY doubts throughout my relationship and impending marriage. But it is all inside of ME. However, I have discussed along the way EVERYTHING with my FH. I try to evaluate the root of my issues, and have even sought counseling which helped tremendously. Bottom line for me, FH always puts a smile on my face. But....you have to figure out what is wrong and why. Money is Money....Marriage is a life committment worth soooo much more than money. If he is not the right person, don't get married. My cousin called off her wedding a few weeks before it was to happen. It was just word of mouth from Mom and family that let everyone know. Honestly, the reaction was better off now, than to be divorced in a year. People will understand, and it is very BRAVE to call off a weding IMO.

Good Luck whatever you choose to do, I truely wish you the best!

I discussed my feelings last night with my FH and he wants to see if we can work things out. I am very confused and stressed right now. There are a lot of other things going on in my life and this just compounds it.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and for sharing personal expereinces with me. It really means alot

I wish you all the best

I wish you all the luck with whatever you choose to do. You have to decide whats right for YOU and although I know its hard, forget about all the money. If you have all these doubts and go through with it just because you feel guilty about all the money you have spent thus far - think about it, are you getting married for the right reason?

If FH wants to try and work things out, maybe you should postpone the wedding and seek out a couples counselor. Then you can decide if you want to go through with it later, and not have the pressure of an upcoming wedding.

Both FH and I were almost engaged to other people. We think about how horrible things would have been if we had married these people, and know that we have found true love in each other. As heart wrenching and awful as it is to go through a breakup, in time, you realize you did the right thing!!

I think the fact that he wants to try to work things out is good... Maybe going to counseling will help you both see whether or not you're meant to be together. At this point things are really bad so it's understandable that you can't stand him and can't picture yourselves together for the rest of your lives. Think back to the beginning... Were things ever good? Honestly? If they were, there was something that brought the two of you together. It's only fair to yourselves that you at least try to get back to that place. If there really weren't any good times, then I think you need to cut your losses and move on with your life. But at the very least you owe it to yourself to at least try and see if this can work.

So sorry to hear this. It looks like you're not alone. Lots of women on here got through what you might have to, and now they're happily planning their weddings to their own Mr. Right. My FH was also once engaged. They thought the engagement would make their rocky relationship better. Needless to say, the engagementmoon didn't last long...good luck!

I just went through this a few months ago. I called off my engagement back in July. (i still lurk though ) It was difficult, but it was the best decision I ever made. If you want to chat, FM me!

You might want to consider going for pre-marital counseling. Whether with your officiant or someone who specializes in it. Many couples do it and it can help get out all the worries and talk about the problems/concerns.
