So bummed...I just wanna cry (long)
So originally my Dr. and I had discussed scheduling my c-section for 12/17, which was perfect becuase I'd be out of the hospital on the 21st and Christmas would carry on as normal. NOW, I get a call from her last night, that the hospital is booked for scheduled c-sections for 12/16, 12/17, and 12/20, so I am scheduled for 12/21. This means that unless I check out early, I'll be released on Christmas day. I am so sad. I refuse to stay past Christmas Eve, but even that stinks. And if for any reason they say the baby or I need to stay the extra day (which they did when I had Scotty) I will miss Christmas morning with my son. I am just so upset. The fact that everything that my DH is doing lately is completely annoying me adds to my mood. I just want to run away.

Re: So bummed...I just wanna cry (long)
My sister was born on the 23rd, we opened our christmas presents, got all dressed up and went to pick up my sister and mom at the hospital, it was really nice, we kept saying we have to go pick up Mary and Jesus at the manger, it was a great christmas, I know it sounds crazy to miss out on your son opening gifts, but that is the ultimate Christmas gift. I was 8 at the time and I still remember the excitement and joy of picking them up. It might also be easier that way then coming home on the Eve, you will want to get up and get things ready for the morning, were really you should be laying there relaxing, JMO

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure Scotty will understand. Why don't you see if they can release you on Christmas eve later in the day.

I know that you will miss your son no matter what, but maybe you can make it fun for him when you get home. I was born on the 21st and come home on Christmas Day. The nurses put me in a big stocking for my parents to bring me home in. Maybe you can do something similar?

If you have to be there for Christmas, you can bring some of the celebration to you.Have your DH pack up a few little toys for your son to open at the hospital and save some more for when mommy and baby arrive home. (Just tell him that a few things will wait for when the whole family can be there together or have your DH hide the rest somewhere in the house for when you arrive home.)

I had my son on the 22 and was released on the 24. My MIL had us stay with her for the holidays so she could help with our daughter. It was still totally exhausting. You will be with both of your children on Christmas and your new daughter is the best gift ever. Stay strong!

Not sure why you have to schedule a c/s but have you considered not doing it until 12/26? Is that medically unsafe for you? Also, I was in hospital the week of thanksgiving and it sucked! The LCs were no where in sight. Less nurses on due to the holidays etc...maybe waiting until after is better. just a thought.

What about bringing presents into the hospital being that Santa is making a special delivery? I am sorry you might have to miss something so special!

I was due on 1/1 and went into labor on 12/14. I was released on 12/16. Maybe you will go into labor early and they will have to give you the section then.

They wont schedule it that late because they dont want me to go into labor. My due date is 12/30, they'll schedule it 7-10 days before that. I wish I could!!!

Re: So bummed...I just wanna cry (long)
Why arent you allowed to go into labor? I told my docs that they are not deciding when the baby is born. I am going to go into labor then probably (95% sure) going to have a c-section.Also I had Emma on the 19th and went home on the 22nd... maybe if you have her on the 21st you can be home on the 24th.
