The media was just outta hand today - I mean I was up at midnight last night and they were just feeding off of it. Its all about ratings in their minds...

But I do want to say to all those who lost someone I'm sorry Every single person who lost their life is a hero in my book and I am sure in most everyones book

jennbaby, does that really comfort you to say that? and I don't mean this attacking.. I just personally hated all the media saying things like that today, especially since we have a hurricane pretty close. I guess I just take it differently because I saw my neighbors tree fall on there house this afternoon and my flag that have flown even prior to 9-11 couldn't be flown b/c of the wind advisory.

I think we all handle tragedy different and need to respect everyone's opinions. To hear something about the victim's spirits still here is actually uplifting to me, on a day that is so terrribly sad.

I heard the same thing on the news today about how quickly the wind picked up. Makes you wonder Like everyone said, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Please don't be sorry for starting this thread. . .if people think it's too much then they don't have to read it. But some need to talk and that's their right.

My FH is a Port Authority Police Officer . . I thank god every day that he was assigned to the midnight shift (which I hated but on 9/11 was a blessing). He arrived home shortly before the towers were hit . . .most of his friends work the morning shift and were set to WTC.. . .It was one of their commands and one of their headquarters. . .He wishes he was there (WTC) to help and I understand but I'm glad he wasn't.. . So for a month and a half he worked 12 hours days no days off. . then they gave him a day off every other week . . .finally he has 2 days a week off but still works 12 hour shifts. . .no vacation. . no personal days . . .It's difficult to spend time with him (he's always tired) But I am extremely gratefully that he's still with me . ..But today was especially hard because he knew (in one way or another) most of the 37 Port authority officers who died

to all the other police officer and firefighter wives and future wives. . I think it's a great idea to start our own thread. . .we all need the support not everyone understands. . .

yes it makes me feel happy to say that because I believe in things like that. I lost 4 friends in the towers. And no I didnt get that from the media but from my heart.
god bless all the victims & the families and all you ladies who's husbands are firefighters, ems, P.O.'s and port authority workers.

MissLinda, my FH is a Port Authority officer as well. He was a NYPD cop and just recently switched over 2 months ago. I know how you feel about the 12hr. shifts, days off, and vacations. Been there, done that. He was working on 9-11 last year and I was panicking cuz I was unable to locate where he was at the time. I know he was assigned to the mayorial election polls, but after they closed I had no clue where he went. Thank God he finally called me at work to let me know he was ok. He worked many hrs. at ground zero, and practically lived there. It's tough being with a police officer, and even a fireman, but this is their job and we luv them and accept it.

My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one.

For all those you lost someone my heart goes out to you and your families. I cannot even imagine the pain and sadness that you have in your hearts. I wish for you to feel happiness again.
My prayer is that my children and their children never know what it was like that day. May they never feel that kind of fear, sadness and pain in their lifetime.

Yup, that's great! I totally believe in how amazing the weather was the week after 9-11 was a sign since we needed that perfect weather for the rescue effort. I think what you said is comforting as well wasen't knocking it at all.
I personally just got sick of what the media was saying about that thought, since many of them weren't saying it for the right reasons!

I'm glad we can all talk like this and vent about midday when I heard of the attacks on our soliders I couldn't deal and logged off work and ran to my church, It is truely a challenge every day and God bless, eveyrone!

and he is not one to believe in stuff like that
even he said.... as soon as the names started being read by the ex mayor, which is true, I had it on in my car and by the second name you heard the wind pick up
