I have the sudden urge to chop my hair off and I really don't know if it's a good idea! I am sick of long hair yet I'm SO afraid to chop it off in addition to that my DH may freak being he likes long hair.
The bob cut is in now and I'm feeling it. Should I start the New Year with a new look??? HELP!!!!

If you really want a new look then go for it. In my experiences, I try not to chnge my hair too much. I usually hate it and cry the whole day. Yes, I've even cried while still sitting in the chair at the salon. You should have seen my hair dressers face.

That's just me. I always want to try a new look but can never go through with it. I don't like change much. Have you ever had short hair? Did it look good on you? Some people look amazing with short hair.

just be sure to go to a really good place and talk and atlk and talk them thru it the whole time. I usually wear my hair in a bob, went to supercuts, and they butchered my hair - and this is by a guy who usually did an awesome job!
I'm still crying a few weeks later!!!

I chopped off all my hair after the wedding. I say go for it. Hair always grows back.

I just did the chop last night. I feel great!! Go for it, it's only hair, it'll grow back if you hate it.

Yes, I had short hair for quite sometime before I met my DH but it's been a while since I've had short hair and honestly don't remember what it was like.
Not sure if I can pull it off now. I'll see what my hairstylist thinks.

If you do be careful on who does it. I did a drastic change and cut all my hair off once and it was the worst hair cut ever. The lady that did it was horrible and to boot it was expensive place.

I love having short hair. When i first went from long to short, though, I went to Vidal Sasson in NY. IT was very expensive (got it for a gift when I asked for it), but worht it for that 'first chop' b/c they sat with me and went over options.
I think there are also computer programs that can show you what you'd look like w/different hair cuts

Why don't you start with a 5 inch cut? It should be enough to get rid of your long hair without going too short. Good luck.

Re: Someone stop me!
It takes a very very very long time to grow hair back for some people. My suggestion: do it in stages. Going from one extreme to another can be hard. I went from hair that was past my shoulders to a buzzed, spikey, butchy chop job but I did it over about a year's time. It made the transition much easier. I just recently chopped my hair BEFORE the wedding and to be honest, if I could get away with doing it shorter, I would. But my veil and headpiece need something to grip on to! Goodluck!

Go to a salon and tell them your thoughts, a good salon will tell you if it's a good or bad idea.

I say go for it!! I chopped my hair less than a month after the wedding, it was so short the back looked shaved, I loved it! Of course, since then I've let it grow back, but it was fun and my husband actually loved it (I surprised him). It's only hair, it grows back, so why not have fun with it?
