Original post by beachbum05

Post a picture of a house you'd love to buy (on the realistic end - not the kabillion-dollar homes)....

here are a few of the houses that me and FH have been looking into..but in KANSAS..where things are affordable..lol

these are a few in the neighborhood were looking into buying

kicker...ALL UNDER 150,000

OMGGGGGGGGGGG all under 150,000, are you serious????? , if they were in NY they would prob be over 1mill, they are stunning!!

Don't forget the standard of living is a lot different outside of NY. If we all had our salaries outside of NY, we'd all have beautiful homes. Then again people outside of NY can afford these beautiful homes and we can't afford to buy anything in NY!

Re: Spinoff to Denise's house post...

My fiance Rob is an architect so he's designing our 'dream home'... something different, not boxy, not a mcmansion, or a house that looks like it should be in Florida (seriously what's with some of these houses going up lately around LI???) So I don't know what our house will look like, but something shingle style, lots of windows, different levels and not just a big square...

I like something like this:

Here are some examples of what his firm has designed:

He also did Mercedes of Massapequa and the Beach pavilions at Venetian shores and Tanner Park.

(Gotta brag about my extremely talented man for a sec...)

Minimum Wage in Kansas would be the same here in NY
Its decided by the Federal Government

its actually not..the federal sets a base minimum wage ($5.15) and each state has to make it at least that

but in places where it is higher cost of living they vote on it to get it higher..like her in florida they had it on the ballot in the 04 election (my first)
and it was to raise minimum wage to $7.45 or something like that

but FH is going to be an engineer

no its just about not moving that far from our families, especially when they'll be the ones watching our kids when we need them to bc i dont think ill put them in daycare or get a babysitter

No - I totally can understand that. I just think its funny. Some people think we live out in the boonies.

I think SC is a whole other world sorry

I can see compared to queens because queens is urban. But nassau is still suburban just like us! LOL

no see now thats a perception most people have about queens LOL, its not all urban...i live in very residential neighborhoods, the only thing is that nearby there are commercial areas...i mean look at the houses i posted in forest hills, bayside, whitestone and malba-do those look like they're in urban areas? whitestone doesn't even have trains which is one reason i really cant move there besides the fact that FH never will but for work i need public transportation and it has none.

This is my house...its by no means my dream house

we took down the blue awnings, took down the three back bushes filled in with lower landscaping, took down the side bush and put a small tree. we will be painting the shutters (not sure what color...maybe just black. taking the vent grates out of that top window in the attic and making a walk in closet in the attic...upstairs bathroom is being reconstructed now, and that florida room/ porch is goin in the TRASH (i hate it so much! and we're gonna put up proper rails and make it a nice porch (not sure if we'll keep it enclosed but that metal and glass slatted monstrocity has got to go.

I'd like something like this when we sell this house in about 2 yrs.
