Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
Original post by MaureenM618
I just thought it would be interesting to see who would win if just our LIW brides voted....No drama please! You can vote anonymously or if you wish write a little about why you would vote for that person without putting down the other candidate to educate some of us that don't keep up with the election.
Re: Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
beram63..good stuff...lol
i know there are a lot of people who are 'terified' but i am not one of those people for some reason. i have a friend/family in the military and believe me when I say that what you hear on tv and what i hear from them is so different somethimes that its scary. to each his own...i am a conservative by all means and i have strong views on a lot of things that would make some of you cringe for sure but i stand by those views. Is this war killing our soldiers yes...did those soldiers sign up to be soldiers..yes. Do I thinkg we should just pull out..no...but i could go on for hours on that topic and I'd much rather talk weddings so i'll keep it simple for now. LoL

Re: Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
McCain.
Obama lacks experience. Sure, he talks well. People write his speeches. He has charisma. He has the ability to persuade people. I watched his speech last night. I am sorry- but certain moments of his speech frighten me. He has this militant persona to him. I don't trust him. He seems a bit Communist to me. And the fact that he idolizes Che Guevara is disturbing. If you don't know who Che is, look him up.
I am an Republican with a slight Demorcrat edge and I hate George Bush. Plus, if you look at a lot of GB's policies, he represents a very radical view so he is not a real Republican. In other words, the man's a psycho. Yes, he gave the Republican party a bad name BUT you have to sit there and read all of McCain's policies first before making a decision.
McCan is very liberal in someways and that is fine. I like him because of his experience. He has MANY years of experience as opposed to Obama who lacks much needed experience when it comes to running a country. Obama is promising us the moon because he is not experienced enough to know that ALL these things he promises are going to be very difficult to pass. He doesn't know how these things work. I studied politics and honestly, a lot of the things he plans on proposing will and can't work.
BTW, Universal Healthcare is the WORST thing. Your taxes will skyrocket. There is no such thing as free lunch. And, therefore out healthcare quality will diminish. Canada has the universal system and guess what? It $ucks. Canadians with illnesses that need immediate care are on waiting lists. Where do they go when they need immediate care? Here to the US. So therefore, are you all ready to have a $hitty healthcare system? I am not. If I get sick, I want immediate care. The universal system will not provide care of such quality.
So this is my opinion. Feel free to debate if need be- I can go on and on with politics.

PS:
Biden previously stated on the news that he would have love to run with McCain. Look online and look for the clip.
AND
Hilary said in a clip- also online that McCain is a much better candidate than Obama.
They are saying things differently now just for show and they get big bucks for doing these appearances. Plus, Biden wanted to be a VP so he would have gone with Obama or McCain. But he preferred McCain,

biden was chosen for the sake of balance and the move to the political middle to snatch up the swing vote--it makes perfect sense that he would lean toward mccain. this is what makes obama and biden such a great pair.

Absolutely- it was a smart move on Obama's part.

yup! and she lacks experience as well..so i feel like the argument about obama not being experienced falls short when the other candidates running mate was only in office for 2 years i believe..

Re: Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
i find this election very difficult....i listened to obamas speech yesterday and although im sure he would like to give tax cuts to the middle class and health care to all children, but im sure mccain would like to do that as well. to promise a monetary change is nearly impossibe due to the very tight budget america is already on due to the war...in order for any new plans to occur, the budget needs to be passed by both the house and the senate, which is nearly impossible. so although, it is time for a change, we all need to be mindful that these promises may not be attainable.

Yea, she has only 2 years experience because she was elected Governor in 2006. But, she has done a lot for Alaska since then and I truly think she is a great asset. She has provided a lot of relief to Alaskans regarding high gas prices as well as being very conscious of the environment.
I personally think a President is in need of much experience. A VP is just an asset to the President. They are sometimes fresh faces which is okay. A presidential candidate should not be a fresh face and yet a man or woman of many years of experience as he or she is leading the country.

I'm not sure yet. But I know it is going to take way more than a 4 or 8 year term to fix this mess the Bush has created.

Re: Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
I'm not sure if I'm voting this time around. I'm a republican and voted for Bush twice b/c the threat to this country and figured w/ his experience, he will get us through.....oh well, like many I was wrong.
Politicians are politicians and they're going to tell you what you want to hear...who has lowered taxes? improved healthcare? and cost of living? this country is in a massive deficit and its going to take a long time to get back on track. We have decades of bad judgement. and I'm sorry neither Obama or Mccain is going to turn it around as soon as they step into office.
at this point, I just hope for the best.

I'm keeping quiet on this because I know politics can get people into heated arguments, however with that being said, I am for John McCain all the way.,

Re: Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
Personally, I do not like either candidate... I am really scared for the future of our country either way at this point! With that being said, if I absolutely had to I vote I would choose McCain...IMO it is like voting for the lesser of two evils and I don't know if I could live with myself either way for voting so I might pass all together.. I did not vote during the Bush-Kerry election for the same reason..

Re: Stolen from 08: Let's vote early for the President
I am very torn and I appreciate reading all my fellow brides political views. I have tried to keep up with the election but I havent paid enough attention to it.
Reading the posts on this thread brings up some very good points I didnt even think of. Like all the previous posts said, whoever our next president is will not turn our countries problems around in 4-8 years. I find it very hard to choose between the two candidates at which one would be the best to start putting this country back on track.
It seems like both candidates are just telling us what we want to hear: healthcare solutions, tax breaks, lowering gas prices, and the solution to end this war. Its very hard to determine which will come through with their promises. May I remind you of the infamous line, 'Read my lips. No new taxes.'
I feel ashamed as an intelligent, American woman that I have not paid enough attention to the election. Reading some of the previous posts makes me realize how out of the loop I am.
