THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

What do you do to keep yourseld motivated and to stay on track, to keep losing weight, eating right and exercising??

I always try to picture myself where I want to be and what I will be wearing when I get there.

Another thing that I do is I will buy an anticipation outfit and make it be my motivation

I reward myself with nice w/o outfits whenever I reach a goal.

As they say, nothing taste as good as thin feels, my gf told me this is from her WW meeting. I like that a lot

I love to exercise, so there I do not need too much motivation, when I feel like my workouts are getting redundant and not challenging me anymore, I try different classes, african dance, aqua aerobics, boxing etc.

Re: WHAT ARE THE TOOLS YOU USE TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

I usually don't need a whole lot of motivation. I actually like working out, and I'm pretty good with what I eat too (but of course I have those times where I absolutely MUST have McDonald's french fries and junk like that). Lately I've been really tired, and have to drag myself to the gym. That's not fun.
So I use fitness magazines a lot to keep me inspired, like Oxygen and Muscle and Fitness Hers. Those ladies are the true meaning of dedication. (However, I would NOT want to have to follow their diet. Talk about boring!)

I'm similar to Anniegrl. I Read the Oxygen and Muscle and fitnes hers. I love to work out and stay active and eat healthy, it's just my personality.

If I can't get to the gym I get very frustrated!

I sound like a dork!

And one more thing, Like Shamma, I love wearing whatever I want! That's motivation!

I tell myself that I would feel better about myself if I ate the right thing, or went to the gym. I remember the way I fell after I go work out or do some form of exercise.

Just remember, you NEVER regret exercising!!!! But you ALWAYS regret not exercising.

its bad...but I use the scale...

but I like to also reward myself with shopping trips when I meet a goal...

Re: WHAT ARE THE TOOLS YOU USE TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

Erica, I can never use the scale, b/c it would depress me, I do not look like the pounds that I am, I am very solid and I am very toned. So even tho my #'s might be going up, I am getting more svelte, so the scale is my enemy, I never get on. I prefer to work in inches. The tape measure is my friend

Re: WHAT ARE THE TOOLS YOU USE TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

Great thread Shamma! I recently stopped working out and eating everything in site over the past 2 months. It depresses me because for 9 months before that I worked my butt off to get fit - worked out every single day!

I hate where I am right now but am in a rut and need to get out of it. Hopefully hearing about everyone elses motivators might start helping me.

nothing taste as good as thin feels

AMEN TO THAT!

I know when I was working out that I felt so good about myself.

Re: WHAT ARE THE TOOLS YOU USE TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

Febbride, I feel you, that is why I am back in the gym working my butt off and is watching my portions again. I hate to feel like I am standing by watching my body go fat w/o me doing something about it. I was reading the weight watcher's book yesterday and it had a few things in it that one can use to motivate themselves, I will post them tonight. Get yourself back into the swing of things, start small and work your way back up. The holidays are coming, that is not the kind of attitude you want going in to the worse food season.

I would really appreciate that.

We all fall off sometimes I happened to fall off and get run over

Re: WHAT ARE THE TOOLS YOU USE TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

I have to say that you girls are movtivating me.

I have heard that phrase before Shamma, and while I am sure it's true it's hard for me to relate to because it's hard to know how thin feels when the last time I was thin was in grade school (well that's not true I was thin when I was sick in h.s. and again 2 yrs ago but I felt like crap and couldn't really enjoy it). So I don't know how thin really does feel enough to say it's better than how something tastes.

But it's about 6 months from the wedding, and I really want to do this. So I am going to start Saturday morning to work out before getting my nails done. If I can get back to 170 before the wedding I'd be thrilled as that's what I was when I met FH. If not I'll be thinner than I am now and that's a plus. And toner too since when I was 170 I didn't work out.

Anyway thank you for the motivation - I hope that I can stay motivated too =)

Re: WHAT ARE THE TOOLS YOU USE TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

This can be the motivation thread, we can post things that got us down and what we did to get over it. You can post your goals here and when you hit them you can let us know so we can applaud you and let us know how you rewarded yourself. I will change the title to MOTIVATION & GOALS. What do you ladies think.

Maribelle, I am holding you to the working out

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

Good luck Maribelle! Just set your mind to it and you will be able to lose that weight. It's all about being mentally strong - our minds like to play tricks on us - telling us that we HAVE to have that extra helping or that we're too tired to exercise. Don't let those mind games work on you!
We're here to help you too

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

what keeps me motivated is ability to stay the same size and wear the clothes that fit right...

I think heavier people have more trouble finding nice things to shop for, so I try my best!!!

Another motivator is that feeling when you go out that you look good... If I got heavier, my self esteem would fall and I would be much more self conscious

Shamma - sounds good to me

Thanks! Yes, excellent thread. I will come back often for my daily motivation!

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

Anniegrl - thanks.

Part of my unmotivation problem is that I have no willpower. My firm provides free cookies (Pepperidge Farm no less...Milanos, the big cookies, the soft n chewy ones...) and Fishies too. And we have a fro yo machine. Of course we also are provided with free fruit and bottled water but me with my lack of willpower goes for the cookies. Cookies and carbs are my downfall. I decided I am going to find a pic of a bride in a magazine with a similar dress and put my pic on her face and put it on my desk to motivate me

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

I am one of those weird people, I actually like exercising. I feel so good after I workout.

I love Step and Cardio classes. I can't just run on the treadmill for an hour, I got so bored! But put me in a intense Step class with an awesome instructor and good music and I will work my but off and not even realize it.

Also, I love to eat! And exercsie allows me to eat pretty mcuh what I want. Don't get me wrong I try to eat healthy, but if I want that piece of apple strudel then I have it.

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

Today's Daily Motivation quote and ladies please feel free to add any if you find it.

IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU ALWAYS DID -
YOU'LL ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU ALWAYS GOT

Everything in Moderation,
Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet. Take small steps.
Set small attainable goals

My goal is to lose 20 lbs. eat better and watch my food intake and my portions. I also want to be more defined. I will let you ladies know how I am doing.

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

I was watching extreme makeovers last night and there was a woman on there who worked out with a trainer and after 5 weeks looked AMAZING!

My goal is to be more defined and firm.. and actually be able to run on the treadmill. Before this relapse i was able to walk/jog but running was far too difficult.

ETA: GOOD LUCK GIRLS

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

Maribelle, nothing is wrong with cookies, its just how many cookies that is the problem. We all love our sweets, but I think if you had some healthier treats on your desk to choose from it would deter you from choosing the cookies all the time.

I love bread. that is my downfall

I was at the gym on Thursday and there was this older woman in front of me doing her drills and it made me feel bad that she was older than me and doing her drills quicker and higher, so I started trying to keep pace with her, she was my motivation. Whatever it is that you have to find to keep you motivated, do it. If that dress with your pix on it, will do it for you, then go for it.

Re: THE MOTIVATION & GOALS THREAD

How I keep myself in gear:

Sign up for fitness events
Have rewards and penalties for meeting/missing a goal evey month
Took a picture of myself in a bikini - I cried so that's motivation and now I have something to look back at and avoid...
Throw out clothes as they become too big (was size 12 and now a 4/6) so I can't afford to gain the weight

Over 30 lbs down, 3 more lbs to go!
I can see the end!
