Hello all... I hope someone can help me. My fiance and I want to get married in a church but have already been denied by two. I've been to St. Raphaels in East Meadow and St. Brigid's in Westbury. Both are very strict. Seems I will have to get married at the hall if I cannot find a solution. Trouble isneither of us are church go-ers, or our parents... does anyone have any advise?

Im so THRILLED that we arent getting married in a church! Its a scam LOL They require a 'DONATION' which is B.S. and they have the strictest rules!!!!
try to be more sensitive. a LOT of girls on here are getting married in churches and it means a lot to them.
ITA...I was going to write something when I first saw that...but it was late last night and I just kinda breezed past it.
It's not a 'scam' to get married in a Church. We switched from the RH to a Church only three months before the wedding, and I'm very grateful that we were able to find a Church to accommodate us at such short notice. It means a lot to FH & I to receive the sacrament of matrimony.
You have to pay to get married at an RH too, is that also a scam?
I APOLOGIZE GIRLS - you are right, im sorry! didnt mean to soundy insensitive like that!
im just a lil upset with the way me & fh were treated .... I was married a very long time ago, and my anullment was granted however, thats not good enough. They are expecting me & fh to go through lots of counseling before approving us...
Seems that when you are divorced, you are judged by the RC Church and they really give you a hard time about getting re-married in a church... the whole annulment process is a nightmare, hopefully none of you have to go through it!
Anyway, again sorry if i offended those of you marrying in a church!

A church has every right to deny you if you are not regular parishoners. It is a sacrament and I'm happy most churches don't take it too lightly.
A lot of people go to a church because they like the way it looks - and IMHO they are missing the point of getting married in a church.
Why not become a parishoner? If it is important to get married in a church, it should be important enough to have a 'home' church
Okay, old thread...but just wanted to say

I was able to get married in a church and I also was annulled. I was never judged and I didnt get a hard time in order to get married in the church. I do agree that getting an annullment is a nighmare and a very long process though. But it was worth it in the long run. I am glad i did it and the DH and i were able to get married in a church. They did mention that maybe we should go to counseling but didnt MAKE us go. I had other problems like getting the priest to return my phone calls but thats it.

Re: Trouble with church
Maybe try St. Barnabas in Bellmore - I'm pretty sure they accept non-parishioners!
