Trying to choose between venues
Hi, ladies and gents:We're undecided between 3 venues. The Swan Club, Woodbury CC and Crest Hollow CC. All are within our price range, and all are beautiful. For those of you booking at one of these 3 places, why did you choose it? I would like to hear honest opinions. What do you like? What DON'T you like?
Thanks,
Jen

There's a cocktail hour fee? Swan Club and Woodbury don't have that. Cocktail hour was included. Hmmmm.....

Re: Trying to choose between venues
i choose the CHCC..loved the grounds and just the feel that you got when you pulled up and walked into the place..yes there is a fee if you choose to have your cocktail hour outside..inside no fee..i am getting married in the afternoon in june so we are unsure yet if we can have our cocktail hour outside because we cant have it in the normal space be members will be using facilities..so if corporate doesnnt have an event we are having it outside at coral beach i believe its called..
i didnt like how there could be other events but i figured you were never going to see them..and plus i booked the emerald room downstairs so i wouldnt be on the same floor as the other rooms/or parties!

I think the iced tea was why we chose CHCC!! It's delicious!! I couldn't wait to go back with our parents so we could have more haha.
Really though, you're getting a lot at Crest Hollow for a great price. I always said I wanted a one wedding venue, but I feel it's so big you won't even know other weddings are happening. We looked at 6 other places with CH being the last. I only went to appease my mom because she said it's beautiful. When FH and I left we both knew it was our venue!
The only thing we didn't love was that our BM was not budging with any prices. He just knew they had the most reasonable in the area I guess?
CHCC all the way! Not worried about any out door fees since we are getting married in November

I didn't get to see the other two places. FH and I fell in love with the Swan Club as soon as we walked into the place and saw the beautiful grounds. None of the other places had grounds like the Swan Club. Also, it was special for us since FH's parents had their wedding in the room we're in. Because of this, we're getting a free Viennese hour! We haven't tried the food there yet but my future father in law has been there for many events and has raved about the food... and that means a lot since he's a great cook! Also, the price was unbeatable and they were very accommodating about us bringing food and liquor from an outside vendor for the cocktail hour (I'm Korean and want to bring in some Korean food/liquor). The other places we saw asked for a recipe and said they would make it... I don't trust that, lol.Sorry for the long rant but I hope this helps.

Trying to choose between venues
My high school prom was at Crest Hollow, and although it was eons ago, I remember there being a lot going on. While I understand that there were like 500 people (or more) there from my high school, there were like 3 other proms going on at the same time, and we could've walked into any of the other proms at any time. They possibly run weddings differently?Swan club was really nice, I was at a wedding there last year. The food was good, but the outdoor space stole the show. It was unbelievable!!
I have never been to Woodbury, but I've heard it's lovely.
Just go with your gut! That's how I think you'll be happiest in the end
Good luck!!!

I've been to weddings at CHCC and Swan Club and they were both amazing! I found that CHCC did seem to have a lot going on at one time which personally wasn't my taste, but the place is beautiful and all of the staff seemed to be very helpful! The wedding I went to was in 2009, so things may be different now, but a friend of mine is getting married there in June and so far she has had nothing but amazing things to say about her experience with them! Swan Club is beautiful too, I loved the grounds there! I went with my friend to see it when she was looking for places and they seemed willing to work with her budget. Good luck!

We chose Crest Hollow, we fell in love with it as soon as we walked in. The cocktail hour only has a fee if you choose do have it outside. Our wedding is in May so we obviously chose to have it outdoors because it is so gorgeous! I cannot wait !

Thanks, ladies! Crest Hollow is still in the running, but they require a 150 minimum headcount for a Saturday night. Right now, our guest list is at 133, with 20 guaranteed to RSVP no, so that leaves us with 113. They're willing to work with us on the headcount if we do a Friday evening. Not my ideal situation, but it all comes down to money, in my opinion. And, as long as we're married, I can't complain. I have to keep things in perspective, I suppose.

I can't see photos of the Emerald Room. I go to the CHCC website, and it doesn't list it. Whats the max headcount for that room?

For Saturday nights they are all going to isually have a higher guaranteed head count. I am having my wedding sat afternoon and for emerald room I'm guarenting 110. Yeah the pictures of it online is when it is decorated more clubby with all the white lounge furniture. I'm not having it. I like it there is a row of windows w outdoor space too. As well as a sunken danc floor that is two steps down from where your guests will be seated.

I didnt want a Friday night AT ALL but, it was the difference of about $8000 from a Friday to a Saturday during the summer. I had to just go for it and i'll spend the money elsewhere!!
THe cocktail hour fee is for the outdoor set up only if you are doing it around the pool.
