Trying to stay positive

Heading out for more dress shopping today. Wish me luck, maybe the seventh time is the charm?

Re: Trying to stay positive

Well I found a dress I really liked today, but I still can't say its 'the one'. My mom said its the nicest dress she has seen on me and I stayed in it longer than any other.

I have been looking at wedding mags for so long, I have so many ideas, I can't commit to one dress. Hell, I am having trouble committing to one fabric. I would love an Altier Aimee gown, but they start at 5k! I also love Claire Pettibone, also ridiculously expensive. I want silk, excellent construction, different, and under 2k. I really want a color, but all I have found in that department is a Vera Wang from David's. The pink was too close to my skin tone, I looked naked. I love Ian Stuart's colors, but again, they start at 5k. Urgh!

I'm sorry ladies, I have been b*tching about this to much lately.

Lots of luck!!! I worked in a bridal salon too, so I understand what you are going through!

Did you end up finding a gown? I would love to here your experience. FM me if you want. It's nice to know I'm not alone as a consultant turned bride.

Re: Trying to stay positive

ugh :( i feel your pain. I've been to 7 or 8 bridal salons already. I was also hoping to find a gown with a dropped/fitted to the hips with a full skirt. :) I actually might take a few weeks off just to clear my head though. I found a dress that is beautiful at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa but I'm not sure its the 'one' yet.. its also completely different in terms of my initial vision. Well... I wish you lots of luck and I'm sending you lots of positive vibes through LIW!!!! :)

You are getting married a wk after me. We are at the same hall. If you dont post the dress pics on here Im gonna wanna come to the hall and check out your dress! LOL. What you are describing with color sounds so pretty, I have to see it what you get! I tried on soooo many. I knew when it was right and it was nothing like what I thought I wanted!

Re: Trying to stay positive

I love you guys! So supportive. I found a gown I really like, but I don't know if I'm in love. Its more body-con than I wanted. My MOH said that I looked good (she would totally tell me, and did a few times, if I look fat), but I'm still worried about it. I think I would have to starve myself from now to the wedding. I will post it for a bit, but I will have take it down for lurkers.

Pronovias is absolutely gorgeous, and very modern. They have touch screens with all of the gowns and the prices to look through while you are waiting for your appointment. My consultant was really down to earth and very understanding about my whole used-to-be-a-consultant-now-I'm-a-pain-in-the-@ss thing. My only little complaint is that they need to turn the AC way up, especially on a day like today!

After the discount she said she could give me, it would just sneak under my 2k budget.

You know all about my problems. Do you think its really 'different'?

I think it really is! So much better than the Maggie you were looking at IMO. I love the way it looks from the back, how it falls under the cathedral. It is definitely body-con, but so unique. How was the construction?
