I don't know about that. Where?
The Greenporter hotel in Greenport NY. It is out east on the North Fork of Long Island. They seem to provide catering for many local venues.

Yes, I know where it is, but I don't think you can hold a wedding onsite.

Re: Unconventional Reception Venues
Thanks for all of your wonderful suggestions! I looked at Hallockville Farm's barn this weekend, and while I liked it, I think it would require a ton of time and money to decorate it. I have some friends who work in catering, so I think I can get a deal on that - it's the time I am concerned about, since I don't think I'll want to spend the whole day before my wedding decorating. But, it may be worth it.I also am going to look at the barn in Smithtown - I live in Huntington so I can go pretty much any weekend.
I'm really looking for a place that has a deck or patio, I think. A barn (or any place that I have to bring in all elements) is my second choice because of the work involved. If only I had the money to hire a wedding planner, and then a barn would be the ideal place. :)
Thanks to all of you - I'm still looking for any ideas and have written down all that you've siggested so far and will be looking them up online now!
Thanks,
Jenny

I was also going to suggest Vineyard Caterers. THey don't have a site fee and they aren't overly expensive. I would also suggest Louis XVI in Patchougue. It's beautiful and waterfront and has a 5 star cuisine. It only accomodates up to 180 so unfortunately in was out for me. Good luck!

Stewart Manor Country Club is rustic, simple, and very cosey, and homey.I am getting married over at Tall Grass Country Club its a lessings. You make it what you want it to be. it can be very elegant or very casual there. what i loved best is that its an outdoor cocktail hour! and
Both are very reasonably priced.
Lessings have a lot of differnt catering halls. Timberpoint very nice and homey and cosey, and also three village inn.

Louis XVI is beautiful, but definitely ornate!

The food at Stewart Manor is really good, too - My brother was married there!
Also check out the Metropolitan in Glen Cove. Amazing food and a pretty non-traditional look!

Re: Unconventional Reception Venues
Have you looked at any places in NJ?FH and I really really wanted to have our wedding at Alba Vineyard. They have this gorgeous hilltop ceremony area and then you walk partway down the hill through the vines to your reception area. It's so beautiful.
Site fee is $1,000 for 5 hours..up to 250 guests with an additional $5 for each guest over 250. Each additional hour is $200. One event per day. The only problem is you'd have to bring everything in yourself..caterers...tents..bathrooms (but some of those portable bathroom trucks get really nice...i've been in one with marble walls!!)
This place produces awesome wine (when we went to visit we came home with 5 bottles!!). You may have seen their blueberry wine floating around various Manhattan restaurants.

Re: Unconventional Reception Venues
I wasn't into all that marbel and mirror either and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. You can try looking at Stewart Manor Country Club, which is very reasonable...also George Washington Manor and MIlleridge Cottage...there's also the Metropolitan in Glen Cove, but it is really an indoor place and no real outside area.

Jedediah Hawkins Inn is a beautiful restaurant and inn out east that has a huge property with a barn. Pretty much, if you spend at least $10,000 on food, beverage, ect you get the whole house to yourself.

This place is gorgeous! I recenlty had lunch there.
I would definitely look into it. I saw the barn and thought 'what a cool spot for a wedding.'

Re: Unconventional Reception Venues
I was at Jedediah Hawkins House this past weekend -- unfortunately, that really cool barn isn't available for weddings. It has no heat or water, and they only use it for family / worker parties. :( I wanted that so bad!!A number of people here have turned me on to the Snapper Inn. I knew it about before, but then I saw a lot of better pics and I am hooked! I have to go see it ASAP.
I also like the look of the Old Field House.
Thanks to all of you!

Also try West Sayville Country Club
We are getting married at West Sayville Country Club. It's beautiful without the mirrors. It's Golf Course and South Shore in one. My dad worked there for years taking care of the parks. He is no longer with us and in memory of him this is the only place we thought of getting married at.
The other place that I can think of is The Gatbsy in East Islip. We hope that we helped you out.

Re: Unconventional Reception Venues
I felt exactly the same way about picking a venue. A conventional catering hall just wasn't for us. Here are a few places that we checked out that might suit your taste:Bellport Country Club!!! (this is our RH!)
Timberpoint C.C.
Martha Clara Vineyard
Woelffer Estates (loved it, but $$$$)
The Royalton
...and all of these locations (except M.C.) have only one wedding at a time!
Good Luck
