that is bazarro I honestly never got an invite that said that. The only thing I am thinking is they don't want to have boxes at the wedding b/c it is too much to deal with ... I guess I am stretching it a bit
I would not go and than send a 'boxed' gift
I thought that too - but i texted her and asked her whats the no boxed gifts about? is that your way of asking ppl for cash? i threw an 'lol' in there to make it sound less harsh and she wrote 'yeah, i dont need ppl giving me cheap regifted picture frames for my wedding'
OMYGOSH! This story gets better.... - seriously she will now know the reason if you don't go.. and if you give her a boxed gift.. maybe give her exactly what she doesn't want by sticking some cash in a re gifted cheesy frame.

Re: Unreal
I wouldnt go,period the end. it seems to me that she is just inviting people to get money or something, being that you guys arent as close as you used to be?

Re: Unreal
I would not go just for the simple fact you feel obligated. You should want to go to the wedding because you WANT to not cause you HAVE to but that is JMO. Also this girl needs a reality check. Although I would not want boxed gift at my wedding I would think people would know to bring that to the bridal shower and not need a reminder on the wedding invitation. But once again JMO!

Re: Unreal
That is horrible!
I am going to be happy to get any gifts, cash or otherwise. I know not everyone can afford to give a check!

Re: Unreal
omg that txt msg!!
seriously---you shouldn't go to a person's wedding cause you feel 'obligated' to go---go because you want to share in their special day.
sounds to me like you both are just inviting each other at this point, out of obligation. this chick isn't worth your effort
aaaand i could probably bet the farm on the fact that when YOUR wedding comes around---she won't bother attending yours, even if you come to hers cause she'll just not feel like it. i dunno why, but thats what i'm feeling!

RSVP 'No' and just don't go. why would you even BOTHER attending a wedding of someone you don't like and your FH can't stand? just move on
Melissa - you beat me to this answer.
I am right there with you too! How rude and obnoxious!

Re: Unreal
I'm not trying to sound rude, so pls don't read this that way... but if you intend on putting something in a big box just to piss her off on her wedding day.. then why are you bothering to go at all? Clearly she will be so pissed off at you for deliberately going against her 'bizarre (and rude)' request that you'll probably never speak after that. I say cut your losses now and rsvp No. I'm not saying that she doesn't deserve to have 100 big boxes at her reception .. but what will you look like when you walk in with a box?

Re: Unreal
I agree with the other ladies...if you don't even have a friendship with this rude person anymore, don't waste your time! She's obv just trying to get more in gifts. And as much as I'd love if people only gave me money money money and lots of it (), I'd NEVER in a million years have the audacity to say that on my invites!

You think that's tacky? listen to this one...
My sister in law's parents were invited to a wedding a few years ago and the invitation said $250 per person minimum....can you imagine the balls some people have

Re: Unreal
I assume that is her 'subtle' way of saying bring cash. I say get a gift and put it in a bag because hey, it's not a boxed gift! It's a bagged gift!
