UPDATE!!! From my Vent about best man and strippers

Original post by StayandJohn

I'm sitting here in my office and the receptionist comes in with a bo-k of beautiful flowers, I'm thinking my FH sent them....I read the card and its from the Best Man!!

He said that he is sorry that he overstepped his bounds but he would never do anything to hurt me or FH and yes he has in fact cancelled the strippers.

Although I'm still upset, I accept his apology

Catch - I think EVERYONE on this board trusts their FH's or they wouldn't be here....Of course it's not a competition. That wasn't my point....
And I think that the fact that Stacey's BM respected her feelings was wonderful and not something all guys would do...

Just saying that IMO (and it's only my opinion) seeing a stripper is not THAT big of a deal....

Edited to add - (I guess I would be skeptical too if the BM was the one the story was about ) and If John didn't even want them, then it's another issue and I apologize if my comments offended....
I was under the assumption that he wanted them and you didn't....

Sage, not offended in the least. But thank you for the apology. John isnt in to strippers, he goes to the occassional bachlor party and goes to strip clubs but its not really his thing. If he wants to go to a strip club I really dont care, it was just the thought of them in the room.

Jess, I'm with you on this one..

I can't stand hearing about women telling their FH's that they can't have strippers b/c they don't like it.. That's just pathetic.. so sorry, but it is..

I totally understand Stacey!

Edited to Add - Marcella - I agree with you, TOTALLY, but what I didn't know was that John didn't want them either....a totally different story...

My thoughts are if he wants to see strippers....let him see'em....I could care less!
But if he doesn't, then it shouldn't be pushed on him by any of his groomsmen!

Re: UPDATE!!! From my Vent about best man and strippers

Marcella, Stacey didn't say 'he can't'. She asked that he didn't. And, it's not just about LOOKING. They can do that in the strip clubs; there are enough of them to go to!! THere is NO reason a stripper should be in a hotel room (of all places) with her fiance. When the strippers agree to do that, they are doing it for MUCH MORE than letting guys just look at them. Therefore, Stacey has every right to be annoyed. That's not right, and any guy who 'needs' to have a stripper in his hotel room is lying when he says he only wants to look. Strip clubs are for just looking (at least most of them).

I do not want fh to have strippers either- I know how you feel.
This stripper thing has been an ongoing argument since I was 17 (young and immature) and I have since realized going to strip clubs is not a big deal.
I do not want him to have strippers in a hotel room. (just because I do not want him to does not mean he won't- it is not up to me at all.)

Glad it all got resolved Stacey, glad the BM apologized and respected your wishes. Hey he could always have his own private party.

Marcella- that's not nice! Just because someone feels differently than you doesn't mean they need to get a grip!
I trust fh completely, and if he has strippers I will get over it- that does not mean I have to like it!

Re: UPDATE!!! From my Vent about best man and strippers

A stripper in the hotel room in unnecessary, I agree. I am glad the best man cancelled it. A strip club is one thing, but a personal visit is another. I don't care how much we trust our FH's, I don't trust the strippers. My FH would probably push a girl away if she tried to put the moves on him, but then what? She accuses him of pushing her and then tries to sue him or something ridiculous? Let them go to a club where they can ogle for hours and a nice brawny bouncer stands in the corner making sure everything is nice.

editted to say: I could be truly honest, but if I was, like they say 'the truth hurts!'

I donot think that Marcella was not being nice.'

She is a super confident and secure woman. I bet you she has a very healthy relationship with Fh because of her views.

Re: UPDATE!!! From my Vent about best man and strippers

I trust my fh utterly and completely. It is his friends and the strippers I do not trust.

I am not the kind of girl that will sit there wondering what he is up to all night, I know he would never do anything that would hurt me. I just have a problem with yucky girls giving him lap dances in a hotel room.

I agree with Marcella on this one. Also at a Strip Club they can do the same thing that they would do in a hotel room. That is why they have rooms at the strip clubs that you can pay to have your own 'lap dance'.

edited to say: when I said that was not nice- I meant I do not agree that these girls need to get a grip.

I am glad you are secure in your relationship, a good relationship is secure for both people. I feel secure, too. I still do not like strippers.

I don't think it's a matter of Marcella being nice or 'not nice'. She has an opinion and she shared it....that's what we are all here for...

Re: UPDATE!!! From my Vent about best man and strippers

My only thought on this is... if a guy (mine or any other) wants to see a stripper - GO! Any day of the week. But why does it seem that weddings have become something other than what they really are? Men and women feel the need to go 'all out' for their b-parties - whether it be long weekends away, or for a 'naughty night' out with strippers. Shouldn't you be celebrating the marriage itself instead of having one or two nights celebrating being single? My FI will be able to go to the strip clubs if he chooses to whether we're engaged or married. He can take a weekend away with the guys whether we're engaged or married... As can I. I don't understand why these things have become such issues for b-parties. JMO
OK - let the comments begin....

Re: UPDATE!!! From my Vent about best man and strippers

I think what it comes down to is that some women are okay with strippers and some aren't. From personal experience, the women who are okay with it, usually like to watch the men dance, too. The women who don't like strippers, usually don't like to watch male strippers either. It's just a preference. I don't like strippers. My FH doesn't either. We aren't into that. That's just our preference. If Stacy and John don't like strippers, it is inconsiderate for his best man to invite two of them to come to a hotel room.

Whatever. It's over. The strippers have been cancelled. The flowers have been delivered and all is well for now.
