vent - so ridiculous!

Ok, so I have a massive problem with people on LIW who don't share vendor information.

I'm not talking about prices, because I understand that money is a sensitive topic. I understand not wanting to share the costs of things (although I always do...), but I can totally get that.

But telling someone the VENDOR you're using or the name of a person is ridiculous. And I'm not even talking about over the public board...I'm talking about through FM where NO ONE ELSE will see it!

Isn't this board geared towards helping EACH OTHER to plan the wedding of our dreams?!

Is it because people are afriad you're copying them?! I mean, you're never even going to SEE that person's wedding so why should it matter?!?! That is just so absurd.

i think people are scared that you are going to call and cancel their vendor.

you do seem like that kind of person - i wouldn't tell you either.

actually i am going to delete all my church and RH information so you dont come to my wedding and go streaking.

I personally don't care either, i'll share everything including the names of the vendors and the prices...I don't see what the big deal is either It's not like we'll be having the same people at our weddings so chances are, no one will know if someone 'stole' and idea from you on liweddings...I agree, what's the point of being on liweddings if you don't want to help other brides..

I'm just surprised!!!

I mean, I always try my best to help people out. So why someone would hoard information is ridiculous!

And Matilde, I've already called your church and hall. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

i seriously doubt any of my vendors would cancel my contract OVER THE PHONE! that is ridiculous.

And as for prices - I only try to give cost over FM and hte ONLY reason that i do that is because there are about five people on here who will be invited to the wedding (maybe more at that point ) and I dont want them to know how much I paid for stuff and think like 'oh she paid this much per plate so i have to give her this amount for a gift' or anything like that

i have never encountered someone keeping hte infor a secret though - odd. everyone has always been helpful on here!

Also, this was a vendor that had already DONE the service for her. So its not like I COULD call and cancel it on her....

ohhh, that's a very good point...fortunately, I don't know anyone on liweddings personally and i'm from brooklyn, so I don't have to worry about people telling anyone how much I paid for certain things...unless someones stalking me! okay, I guess i'm gonna FM from now on too!

now that my wedding is over, i have all my vendors in my profile..BUT let me just give this little story as to reasons why ppl don't mention vendors at all:

Last year, on a random sat. afternoon, I get a phone call from my banquet manager. he tells me that a girl came to visit his hall, and began telling him that Melissa & Peter who were marrying there on Feb. 25, 2007 (she acted like she KNEW us) told her DIRECTLY that we were getting this AMAZING deal and that cause we paid cash, WE told her that WE got the sales tax taken off our bill! (sooooooo not true, we paid full tax and usually gave them a check). she even describd what we looked like (from my avatar) and truly acted as if we were friends with her and gave up this informaiton. you can imagine how my banquet manager was quite shocked, and actually was calling me to tell me to stop talking to ppl and telling them this!!! i explained that i never spoke to anyone like that at all....and it was all straightened out.

after that, i took just about all info out of my profile concerning vendors....cause sadly...ppl are weird and this biitch could have cost me my contract at my hall. it's stories like THAT, that cause girls to be paranoid and cautious!
