FH said that after we come home from the cruise that he was going to stop smoking (he's been consistantly smoking a pack and half). Well today marks 1.5 weeks and he has not had one single cigarette since that Monday after we got back! He even passed his greatest test of all - getting drunk at our memorial day BBQ and resisting the urge to have one (in all honesty, I thought that was going to be his downfall LOL).
And he is doing this cold turkey which is what amazes me most. We got pacthes and the gum for him from NYQuits but he refuses to use them. He says he can do this on his own. Hope he can keep it up!

that's really great!!! FH and I swear that we are going to quit after Aruba in July! he can do it b/c he has for 9 months... but I really dont know if I can!!
good for yoru FH though - drinking is the hardest part!

That is sooo great!!! The best decision ever! And FH also quit when we went on vacation 2+ years ago. He smoked his last cig at the airport and that was that! The cold turkey amazed me too!
FH only relapsed once with one cig and he fessed up and said it wasn't even as good as he thought it would be so now he can say he's a non-smoker!

Thats awesome!! Tell him to keep up the good work!! My FH also quit smoking months ago! So proud of him.. Once in a while when we are out or hes drinking he will have one but thats it, but he also quit cold turkey, and im sure its not easy..

He used the patch for almost a month, then got some side effects, so used Chantix for like 3 weeks, and got some side effects, and now he's been cold turkey.
Being drunk and not smoking is definitely a big accomplishment. It gets easier, but the urge is always there. I wish him the best. I'm sooo proud and happy for my FH, so I know the feeling!

yeah he had tried to quit last year and used the patches and he started having these really funky dreams (like really really weird LOL) so he started not putting them on and then eventually started smoking again. Really hope the cold turkey method works out for him.

Wow that is very impressive! Absolutely something to be proud of. FH smoked his last cigarette Christmas Day last year (2009) and while he did smoke while we were on vacation last week in Mexico he came home and completely stopped again. It must have been something with the beach, beers, and $3.00 packs of cigarettes that he just couldn't resist hahah

I forgot to mention the other part of this. His aunt/godmother gave FH a piggybank right before they went home to Ireland to put all the money he would have spent on cigarettes into. FH has been putting $10 a day in and I have been putting some money in as well. When it's all full we are going to break the bank and then use the money inside towards the wedding or as our spending money for the honeymoon!
