ladies, i was wondering what 'new and hip' wedding trend did you just NOT WANT?
i'll go first. the funny thing is that mine is mostly an 'old traditional' trend... no bouquet toss and no garter toss (not enough sinlges at the wedding to justify).
your turn
disclaimer: please remember, that this is a matter of likes/dislikes and personalities. just because you don't care for something, doesn't mean that there isn't a wonderful bride who just loves the idea. i know we are all grown, well-behaved women and we won't say anything offensive about what another bride did/will do.

Cry packs...I'm sorry, and no offense to anyone, but that is so stupid...I've never been to a wedding where guests have been frantically seeking out a tissue due to the overflow of tears of joy. Maybe MOB or MOG but I definitely don't think anybody besides them will benefit from a kleenex in an envelope! LOL

We didn't do the bouquet or garter toss. I didn't wear a 'Soon To Be Mrs. H_____' sweater. I also didn't do petal cones. My guests took the rose petals out of bags.

You are funny. I have to say this is one thing I can justify b/c we are a bunch of criers. I almost think that our bodies believe we have a minimum number of tears we must use every month or something really bad will happen. And my mother cried watching a fashion show and the fake lil dj shows at a bridal show...And she usually doesnt bring enough kleenex...so cry packs will be on my must do.
However. I am unsure about doing petal cones.

Yeah, no slipper baskets either...or if I do, I'm just going to collect all of the left overs from my friends that had them...if 3 people took a pair it's a lot.

I don't want to do cry packs-BUT if I don't the floor may be wet from all of the crying our families will do.

no garter or bo-k toss, no crypacks, no guestbook, no bathroom basket, slipper basket, or newspaper wedding announcement, etc.
sorry there's enough work to do just trying to do the basic stuff like create the ceremony program, the music list, placecards and favors. everything else just seems over the top.

Re: wedding 'trend' you said NO to
Unity Candle / Sand Ceremony Chinese superstition believes that white candles are bad luck. So I was looking for matching red candles and I couldn't find ones I liked.
I decided against the Sand Ceremony because our wedding wasn't a beach wedding. it just didn't seem natural to have sand inside the reception hall. LOL
Also, the garter toss. It just wasn't something I enjoyed at other people's weddings. So I decided to forgo it at my wedding. A few people asked about it later and I told them that they could see so much of my legs while I was wearing my Chinese wedding dress that there wasn't much else to see with a garter toss. LOL
No bathroom basket, crypacks or slipper basket either

nope no unity candle or sand ceremony either...am i doing anything?
Yeah, none of the above for me either. I'm even debating whether or not I want to do the cake cutting part....
both sets of our parents would be really upset if we didn't do the cake cutting...so we're going to do it...BUT we're not smashing it in each other's faces...we HATE that
