we can post low fat recipes to help everyone keep on track!
Tonight I am making Lowfat Chicken fajitas
low fat soft wraps
lots of peppers and onions (no fat/cal!!)
Grilled chicken
Salsa (no fa/cal!)
low fat sour cream
Brown rice and broccoli on the side

i cant wait! :)

that sounds like a great menu!

FH and i went out for dinner and i lucked across a menu that had a grilled chicken breast w/ brown rice and steamed broccoli as sides. i was so excited to be out to eat and still stick to the diet!!!

p.s. my bridal shop told me not to drop more than 15 lbs too !! that must be the magic number

Thanks! I actually made up the 15 pound thing myself, I just figured that is when my dress would end up too big! At least I am on track then!

Re: Weight Buddies?

I'm all for this weight loss thing... I've always had problems with my weight, ever since I was little. In high school I looked my best and I look at those pictures and wished I looked like that now. Once college started, I just let myself go. It also doesn't help that my FH eats just about anything he wants whenever he wants and doesn't seem to gain an ounce. I always told myself that I would wait until we got engaged to really start losing the weight (I won't even mention how much because it really is a lot). All I think about is how I don't want to look the way I look now for my wedding. I hate taking pictures now because I am just not happy with how I look.

So, once the ring went on my finger, I started going to the gym... luckily my FH does computer work for Gold's Gym and was able to get us 2 lifetime memberships for free. I'm starting to get into that habit. I'm also trying to eat better which is REALLY hard because I have a severe sweet tooth. I think I'm doing pretty well so far though. I eat a lot of salad now, I've been frequenting a health food restaurant type place that has frozen yogurt with no fat and very very few calories to satisfy my sweet tooth.

I actually made a dish the other night which was pretty lowfat and tasted pretty great. I grilled chicken in a 1/2 cup of lowfat chicken broth and spices, made some whole wheat pasta, and cooked broccoli in the rest of the can of broth and spices. Then I tossed it all together and I thought it was pretty good. Anyhow, I'm trying, I'm really trying. I hope we can all motivate each other. I'm just glad I have awhile to go before I have to look for a dress!

Which restaurant has brown rice? I can't seem to find too many of them outside of Chinese restaurants.

The woman in the bridal shop already told me I'm not going to fit into my dress. I'm not really worried about not fitting into my dress, but she said it in the most undiplomatic, insensitive way possible. Nice!

Good luck! Its really tough but can be done! And at least you have a good excuse for motivation...I tell myself if I can't lose weight for my own wedding, then what occasion can I lose weight for?

Good luck girls.
Unfortunately I am older and I am on my second attempt at marriage. As you age, you can eat the same amount and keep adding weight. It is much harder to lose it. Once you have kids, the hips are done also. I would like to lose 10 lbs for the wedding. I was never a dieter though. FH and I joined a gym that is open 24 hrs during the week, so we can go together. I think carbs is the killer. I am trying to cut done on the bagels and rolls.
I heard a recipe yesterday for a low cal cake-cut out the oil and eggs and add 1 can of diet 7up. I tasted it and it was not terrible. It think it helps to have others supporting you.

Re: Weight Buddies?

Uh oh, I just ate one of the brownies that I made for FH the other night.

Why is it that he can have a plate of brownies sitting on the counter for days and not eat them, while I'd have to eat them all at once?

Any tips for a night eater?

I know that common knowledge is that if you eat regularly throughout the day, starting with breakfast, you should eat less at night. For me, it doesn't seem to matter if I eat a ton or nothing - I stil get those night time munchies! Any suggestions?

Also, my FH has had some health issues which put him off his diet ( he was doing amazing and was really self motivated). Now he's just really tired from school, but he really wants to get back into the diet/exercise kick? The problem is he's also a picky eater ... any tips for being a good motivator? I try but I seem to hurt more than help sometimes.

I keep hearing about everyone losing tons of weight on WW, how does it work? I don't really want to spend extra money paying for membership and things like that.

I haven't been as good this week, I got sick and didn't make it to the gym all week, so now I feel blah...

I am so interested in this motivation group. Girls I think this would be great and very beneficial. I've been having a very hard time with my weight ever since the doctor has changed medications for me.

So I found out WW is having free registration right now - and since I have a day off today, I'll go check it out. Maybe I can do WW on my own

Good luck...its tough at first but once you get into a groove it works well. You to go a meeting once a week, and at your first meeting they will teach you how the program works. I think its around $12 per week. I'm lifetime; I need to get my butt to a meeting soon.

Getting my butt over to the gym tonite!! It's the first time since.......ugh, I can't even remember the last time I went.

My issue is exercise. I mean, I'm not the best eater, but I'm pretty healthy and usually as soon as I start working out, I lose weight pretty quickly. Hopefully it works again now!

Eatting throughout the day doesnt nec. make you eat less at night. it just kick starts your metabolism to make it run better. Try food at night that are satisfying. If you like to sit and watch tv and pick on something that lasts a while try low fat popcorn instead of chips. Or if you like sweets try no pudge brownies (in a box- you will have to make them) they are good and lower fat...or even there is WW ice cream out.
I am a vegatarian and I am a picky eater too... you have to just find snacks that are satisfying to you.. by trial and error.

GOOD LUCK GIRLS!

Good luck! I have the opposite problem...I work out every day, but don't lose weight unless I severely restrict my calorie intake. Which is so hard to do! I'm home today and its a particularly bad day...

Re: Weight Buddies?

peoples bodies are very different on how they react to different things. I wish I could loose a good amount of weight w/o excerising. I just cant seem to get myself to the gym.

Re: Weight Buddies?

My problem is that if I go to the gym, I think, well, I went to the gym so it's ok if I eat that cookie or whatever.

Today is a day of no eating for me... I'm about to get my wisdom teeth taken out in about 2 hours so I haven't been able to eat or drink anything all day. And I'm STARVING!

I would love to loose 10-15 before the wedding!!
I hate taking pictures now, I am not big, but I am very unhappy. I hope that through support, i can do this--and so can all of you
I just bought Turbo Jam, so tonight I am going to start it---it says you can loose up to 10 pounds, 10 inches if you follow the 10 day program--we'll see
