Weight Watchers...again

Original post by Thrilled

Just ignore if you don't want to read this...
I have tried and failed WW now 6 times. I checked my bank balance yesterday and saw that WW had put through the online service (which I had approved and asked them for etc) and I took it as a sign to go ahead and give it one last go. ON top of that Fergie was on Larry King Live last night and she looks friggin fabulous...another sign.

So I need lots of support!!! Let's hang in there together. I'm getting married 9-6-03, so the way I figure it, I have about 34 weeks or so to lose 25-40 lbs, which can be done! HELP ME GIRLS!

Re: Weight Watchers...again

I used to hate working out, but once I really started I got motivated. For a while, my motivation was toning my arms for my strapless wedding gown. Now, it looks like we are going to Hawaii on our HM so my incentive is to get my a$$ into a bikini for that! Only 7 1/2 months to get ready, so I hit the gym 3x a week, and do Buff Brides 3x week.
I am encouraged that it takes time to get used to WW, I plan on continuing my membership and hope to get under my daily points today!! Started w. Oatmeal (2 pts) for breakfast, will probably have a banana for snack (1 point) at 11a.

I am a barrel of useless information

I learned that in some class i was taking that my old company made us attend. It was some class to keep you organized in a busy environment. I remember nothing of the class, but that one fact.

I am also doing buff brides, but I am tryind to do cardio the same day as weights, so yesterday it was 30 mins on eliptical, and then weights. I can already see my arms getting toned, but my legs/but/waist still require work!!! And a little less than 6 months to go!!!

I like doing a rowing machine for a little while too, it seems to work our the arm muscles well!!

Re: Weight Watchers...again

When I work out I feel awesome! It's just getting out there. My boss ran a marathon last year and she wants me to get my act together enough to run a half-marathon with her in May, which is certainly do-able if I start now.

Anothger thing to add re little points - It is very easy to forget about the sugar and milk in coffee...those teeny things can add up to 3-4 extra points a day. The water is not a problem for me at all...my main issues are journaling and staying in point rage. And Alina, you look fabulous! Where you gonna lose that weight from, girl? Your feet?

hmichick...my first week I had problems with points too but you get into the groove real quick. I started really focusing on making a big portion of each and every meal fruits and/or veggies. Have a big salad with a fat free dressing with your turkey sandwhich...eat most of the salad before you even bite into the sandwhich...you'll fill up on with the salad and before you know it you'll won't even want to eat the whole sandwhich you'll be satisfied with maybe half.

Thrilled, I too drink coffee with normal milk, but the amnt you add is probably 1-2 points. And I use 2-3 packets of sugar - those I have ignored

As to where to lose weight from, its funny, I think over the past year I have actually lost muscle and got some fat... So my weight in pounds is the same, but my clothes feel tighter around waist/but, so I am trying to get back to my size. Also, I am a little suspicious about the WW recommended minimum weight, I personally believe that they're a bit high... I am 5'1' and at my healthier times my weight ranged from 97-102 lbs... This would be under the weightwatchers minimum of 106 for my height. However, I neither looked or felt anorexic, nor was I even close to looking model skinny. At that time most clothing fit me well, and some even didn't fit me right, b/c of bigger hips... Now that same cut clothing fits me a bit tighter than I want.

You know what? This thread is like a weight watchers meeting in itself! I love it!

Re: Weight Watchers...again

Beth - exactly! They're not as nice or accomodating to newbies on the WW boards, so I figured what the hell. Perhaps LIW can give us a WW thread? Or is that too much like endorsing them?

Re: Weight Watchers...again

I have a question, has anyone tried using the books on tape while their walking/running/doing other boring aerobic stuff... I have been experimenting with music, but also sometimes try to read magazines when on the eliptical trainer... I find these things soooo boring, and its hard to stay for more than 30 mins at a time!!! I have to work on trying to attend more classes, at least there is an instructor to harass you there.

Music and the TV does not work for me when I am on the exercise bike or treadmill. What does work for me, is READING! Before you know it, you've been on for 30-45 mins! I just have to get myself actually on the machine now!

Re: Weight Watchers...again

I am learning the value of veggies, last night for dinner I had a small pork chop, some brown rice and filled half my plate up w. steamed broccoli. I had 2 forkfuls of broccoli for every piece of pork chop, and hardly touched the rice (hooray for me). I usually have a salad instead of the broccoli, but I think it helped me see my plate as full, even though half of it was veggies. I have to shake up my menus a bit!

Re: Weight Watchers...again

Brians mom bought us the simply delisious (sp) book and we havent made anything from there yet.

Dinners have been really good. Chicken cutlet and rice with a salad or meat and potato's with corn and a salad.

No offense, but that body is disgusting!

Edited to say: that's JMO. I personally have no desire to look like that.

Re: Weight Watchers...again

What I find the hardest is dinner. I usually end up just eating a Lean Cusine or Smart One b/c I can't be bothered making a meal and calulating the points. The website has great recipes for meals - I have to start trying those.

Re: Weight Watchers...again

Those smart ones aren't bad, except I can eat two of them!!!

I should really stock up on those!
