but where is the PROOF (not conjecture) that he did it for oil and/or to avenge the suicide attempt on his dad?
True, I have as much proof of that as he did that there were WMD'S in Iraq.

It is very different - Clinton lied UNDER OATH, whether Bush lied or not has never been absolutley clear..aka..no smoking gun.
Clinton's lies were about his own personal business - right or wrong, I don't care who he's doing, no one is getting killed because of it. Bush's lies are killing American soldiers and bankrupting our economy. So maybe he didn't SWEAR to it, but we're still suffering the consequences of it.

Yes, he intentionally lied. He had knowledge that the information he was going to parlay to the public was not accurate. He gave that information anyway.
He may not have been under oath, but the gravity of the matter and the significance of the groups he was talking to makes up for that, IMO. You don't lie about mustard gas and WMD and sending 18 year olds to the desert.

I think some would disagree. Maybe if Clinton hadn't been so busy with Monica, and his impeachment, he would have been able to prevent 9/11. Maybe he would have actually taken Bin Laden when given the chance. Maybe he would have investigated the USS Cole bombing a bit more...

my point exactly, thank you.

Yeah, Clinton KNEW that terrorists were going to fly planes into US buildings and swept it under the carpet and ignored it. Oh wait, Clinton was actually FLYING one of the planes.

Do you think Bush knew the actual implications before hand?

the republicans escalated and made a mockery out of an issue that should have stayed behind closed, bedroom, doors.
ETA - if monica was under age, then it would have been a different story...
i think this thread has been hijacked enough, i'm giving it a rest...

Of course not!!! To imply that either man actually knew that what happened on 9/11 was going to happen shows complete ignorance on the subject and to me indicates blind allegiance to either side without regard for the facts. The intelligence agencies did not fully comprehend the threat at hand and if they don't then the president doesn't either.
It is an entirely different debate as to the accountablility of the intelligence agencies for falling down on the job.

Clinton was a lame duck at the time of the Cole...
