flowers cuase they die, favors cause peeps might toss them, place cards cause peeps do toss them and i would not want to spend more than 1000 on a dress. i can't see that happening.

I would say placecard holders b/c the cards stand up by themselves anyways.

Why favors? They are a thank you to your guests. I don't think that's wasteful.

I said flowers because they die, but really, is any of it worth it in the end? Don't you think the ceremony should cost 25,000 dollars since it's doing something that should NEVER be undone? Ironic if you think about it.........

Of the options given I would say the placecard holders, but I have one to add. Since I'm having the ceremony and reception at the same place I think limos would have been the biggest waste of money, so we're skipping them.

Invitations...I just don't see spending a couple hundred bucks on paper that people are going to throw out after the wedding.

at first i would have said dress, but then i went a bunch over my budget. it was so tough for me to find a dress that wasn't strapless that i loved. i found it so it was worty every penny to me.
place dard holders definitely because what will you do with them when you are done.
favors because so many times they aren't anything that i would use. i love edible or drinkable favors.
i've got mixed feelings on flowers, but i may have solved my issue with the flowers dying and we may be using some potted ivy, with flowers in it.

Re: What do you feel is the BIGGEST waste of money?
favors cause most of the time they are kinda cheesy and from MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE...I just toss them. I really havent come across any favors that I REALLY liked, unless they were those Godiva chocolates that I eat in about 2 seconds and then want more....lol. Unless, of course, you are able to spend a lot of money on favors that wont end up in my junk drawer....
that's just me, though. don't mean to offend anyone.....
ETS: actually, i usually forget them at the reception.....

I agree.
Which is why we're giving out Chopsticks. Our names aren't on them or anything. It's nothing big but usable if anything.
I said Placecard holders. Seems like too much for me.
ETA: we are taking OUT the centerpieces they are offering us. We see no sense in having flowers on our tables other than 'everyone does it' so we are having chinese lanterns, candles and lucky bamboo instead.

I would say it is a toss up between placecard holders and invites. No one really cares about these things. The others well they either really make the wedding beautiful or they are going to make me happy. So i can't say they are a waste of money

I'd say invites are the biggest waste, only if you pay tons for them. I agree they are going to be thrown out right after (maybe before) the wedding.
I haven't saved any favors I've gotten, though I have a heart bottle top somewhere around the house. I guess some people keep them.
The dress I can't comment on, since I don't wear one...not in public anyway.
We thought about getting picture frames that double as placecard holders as the favors. 2 birds with 1 stone kinda thing. Maybe I'll just make CD's instead. They seem kinda useful.
As for owning a house instead of the wedding, I guess it depends on what you spent on the wedding. You could certainly own a house somewhere other than LI.
