What do you think????

Original post by StarryEyedBride

I found some invitations I LOVE!!

BUT- They are $2k (for 150 invites)

Am I crazy to even contemplate this...?? I haven't seen a single invitation that I thought totally fit me and our wedding 'theme' if you will... and then I saw these ...

Check 'em out!

What do you think!? I have no idea what's average price...

These are NOT in my budget- Fh and I didn't really have a budget on this.... we would really have to pull something together and its really just me that wants them... FH thinks Im crazy to spend this much!

I don't think they are worth it... they are nice but 2 grand is about 1500 bucks more than the average invitations...

its up to you but I think you can find something similar for much cheaper and that extra grand that you save, can be used for your new home! jmo

IMO, not worth the 2k.

Don't forget - those invites get mailed in BOXES, not just envelopes - imagine what mailing is going to cost you!!!

I wound up spending 1700 for 175 because they were all I could find that I liked. I spent a lot of time looking around first though, to make sure there were no other options... if you cant find anything else, then go for it. Mine came out gorgeous and almost every response card has come back with a comment on how beautiful they were, so in the end it was worth it for me.

That is SOOOOO MAKEABLE!!! You could probably make it for $300. $10 for cardstock, $60 for ribbon, even if you have to pay $1 for the brooch, you're still only at $220. It's all black ink, so that's $30, envelopes and reply envelopes at about $25. No way would I pay $2k for that.

I'm on a budget so I wouldn't spend that much on something that a majority will throw away.

If you have the money then do it...but don't forget about the extra money you'll need for labeling and shipping. They are very pretty.

Did you try Jean m. They have similiar types of invitations. I think 2k for invites is a little much. They are beautiful so if you love them, then get them!!!

If you really love them, and just have to have them....than who is to stop you?
If its money that is stopping you......can you make the commitment to shave your budget elsewhere? Perhaps you can shave it off of the flowers? OR something else?
I think invitations are important. I have a collection of all the ones I've ver recieved and to me, an invitation creates my first impression of the affair.

Re: What do you think????

Are they amazing?? YES
Will they end up in the trash?? YES

I just couldn't justify spending that much money on something that I know will end up getting thrown out. If you have the money to splurge I would put it towards something that would make your reception extra special. If you are totally in love with them then I agree maybe you could just DIY and save a Butt load of cash. HTH

They are beautiful! I love them! However, as someone who has gone to like a hundred weddings, I can assure you I don't remember anybody's invites and they are all in the garbage.

I agree that you should try to find a knock-off of them, especially since they aren't in your budget. Personally, I don't think invitations are worth a disagreement with your FH or that you should have to really save to have and mail them. But hey, if you can swing it, go for it.

They are HOT!! Very different! It depends on your budget. My max is $1,000 and I have yet to create a budget for myself. Your choice.

IMO, That is way too much. Like the others said people just throw them out, so to me it is kind of a waste of money that could be well spent on something else

Re: What do you think????

I would totally go for it, we were paying well over 3500.00 for ours then about 3 1/2 months before the wedding, I called to check on the status of them and she said she was too busy to do then, well I dont want you to know how I responded to that one, So now I did them, Gosh, it took forever to do and it caused lots of stress, but boy am I happy, they came out so beautiful, nicer then the original ones we wanted, I even have 5 guest who asked who did them that they wanted to order them for parties and wedding and so on, when they found out I did them they were all amazed and said I should be in the business. So if the price is causing you stress research it and maybe you can do them yourself or have someone else do them for a lot less, otherwise go for it.....its once in a lifetime.

Since they are not in your budget, I say look elsewhere. What about a place like pippy's sweets that makes custom invites? Maybe they can duplicate for cheaper? I think they are nice but I agree with an above poster that most people throw them away.

Re: What do you think????

I know how excited you get when you finally find invites you LOVE. ...and then you see how much it totals out too I just did the same thing and I was just like...no way will I spend that on something to be thrown away. I want them to look nice but its just not in the budget. Id try to find a less expensive similar invite or DIY. OR if you have that money to shell out for them and its in your budget, go for it girl!

Re: What do you think????

If you cannot afford it then don't get them. But, if there's a way to make it work, I say go for it. We only wanted to spend $500 and ended up spending twice that because they were the only invitations I loved after months of searching. I def do not regret my decision.

IMO that's way too much for Invites!! I definitely think you can find them cheaper. But hey if you have the money then go ahead.

Re: What do you think????

I think they're beautiful but I also think 2K is WAY too much money to spend on invitations... personally I think it's a waste because people may notice how nice it is, but eventually they'll be in the trash, and there are also just as nice invitations that are a fraction of that price. Of course if you can afford it comfortably, then do it, but otherwise, keep looking!

Too much. Just invites. Beautiful...really gorgeous & you won't find anything as pretty, but add calligraphy, shipping, response cards: it's going to cost more than that!
