What words do you hate when someone pronounces differently than you?
Original post by NovemberSue
I hate when people say on-velope instead of envelope. I also hate when people say fuss-trated instead of frustrated.

sage - my dad does the opposite - he says semesta instead of semester. He also says steereo instead of stereo. Drives me nuts!
exscape instead of escape expresso instead of espresso I even saw this spelled wrong at Linens and Things (espresso makers). FH had to stop me from finding an employee and telling him it was wrong!

I have such a bad NY accent! The girls over in my office in PA love to hear me talk.
I hate it -- although they may think it sounds cute I know it sounds unintelligent

I hate that mt father can't pronounce any last name right, he says it how he thinks it should be said even when you correct him.
My FH's name has a ' in it and he alwyas uput the accent on the letter before, it is so annoying.
Re: What words do you hate when someone pronounces differently than you?
raadiator always gets me...
my aunt once told me she had the Church seat (in a car)...What? she meant to say the Choice seat...goes with the turlet accent
I was shocked in about 2nd or 3rd grade when I found out that idea didn't have an 'r' in it!! I was sure of it...since then I have been very conscious of that word...
someone at work says that I pronounce the t in often when most people dont...I never noticed though
axe/aks is a big one too

Its not pronunciations but- when people say we should do this, or we need to do this. Its me that is doing it. There is no 'we' involved. Its me. Just say Wanda can you do this or Wanda you should do this! That irritates me!!
Or when my boss decides to continue to pronounce the last letter in her last sentence. If the sentence ends with an s she will do: schoolsssssss UGH!
