I think i'd be a lil upset, but in hindsight everyone went through a lof of trouble for it, so i'd try to get over it. I have only one stipulation, that it can't be where we have every other event for the family, because then I will know when we pull up and then I'd be really mad

i'd be upset but i wouldnt say anthing. I know now that i've had my shower that the day of the shower you are just so happy and excited the location doesnt even matter!!!

i'd be upset only if the people who threw the shower knew i didn't like the place, yet still booked it there. if it was an accident, i'd make the most of it.

I guess there is not much you can do but make the most of it and enjoy your day. You dont want the people throwing it to think you seem ungreatful. On the other hand if they knew how you felt about the place and went ahead and booked it there I would be a little upset.

I'm actually in the same situation. Mine is this Sunday and I was very involved in the planning of the shower because my sister, my MOH, is my bridal party, I have no bridesmaids. My mom helped her as well. I'm not thrilled with the place because it's a restaurant/bar (has tons of tv's and there's no separate room) and the restaurant is very bar-like. I wasn't happy for a while but then figured there's nothing I can do and it will be fun.

well see i know they dont have a lot of money to spend - and my FH was like the go between person - i would tell him what i liked - and i said brunch and mimosa - i said no biggie if it was at someones house (because i actually like that)

sooooo i started getting this really bad feeling that it was going to be chinese food b/c i LOVE chinese food - but we did chinese food for our engagement party, so i thought there is no way they would do chinese twice especially since not everyone likes chinese food and i know of two people (both would be shower guests) who i love that starved at our eparty and i felt terrible about it....

so i started stressing b/c i didnt want the people throwing my shower to spend a lot - and i wanted to see if my mom was contributing (because i felt that she should) so he gave me a roundabout idea of the cost and i figured it had to be one of two things - either at someones house or at a chinese restaurant.....i got upset but i kept telling myself there was NO way they would do chinese again but for some reason i had this intuition - its like i knew it was chinese.....so i asked FH this morning to just tell me the truth - so on secret he told me i was right....and now he feels horrbile, i thought he was going to cry - and i kept telling him its ok, its the thought that counts but i really had to keep myself from crying - im just disappointed because its the one thing i did NOT want - i really would have loved something in the backyard instead.....my stomach hurts and i feel bad b/c i wanted something totally diffferent and i really tried to express that when everyone asked me what i liked but at the same time i feel horrible for even thinking that way - i should be grateful and not care but its hard when its like the least place you wanted it to be at.....

I totally understand. I felt really bad when I told my mother that I'm not happy with the place they chose. I totally apologized but I know she feels bad now that it's not what I wanted. I will have to make it up to her.

No I know when mine is, sometimes I wish it was a suprise but at other times you know you are having one and all. It depends on the person I guess. I am ok with it! Ok I didn't read your other post about being dissappointed. I can understand your disappointment but your shower no matter where is going to be beautiful. You are going to be with all the people you really care about and I guarantee you, you will completely forget about being upset that is at a Chinese restaurant. I'm sorry you are upset

I think that you will have a good time either way.. but yes I would be bummed.. but at the same time excited that they are doing this for me.

I don't think you'll have to ACT like you love it. The shower is way more than the place and the food. You'll be so happy to see all of your family and friends, and how hard they worked to give it to you. It will be great no matter what.

They are probably having it there because they know how much you love chinese food so they probably thought it was a great idea, not realizing that you would have rather had a brunch type of shower. It probably would have cost them around the same to have a brunch so it is probably not the money so much as they thought you would like it. Maybe they arent having it at the house because that is a lot of work to set up and clean up and decorate everything so in a restaurant all you have to do is decorate.

Try to stay positive, maybe it will turn out kinda how you pictured. Maybe they will decorate really nice or have a special drink that you like or something.
