What's significant about your wedding date?

What's significant about your wedding date?

We just set our date, and we chose it because it is during both advent and hanukkah and will be a great way of starting our interfaith family. It's also Beethoven's birthday! Which is great also because FH's alte grandfather LOVED classical music, and I love the charlie brown song 'beethoven day'

'No more am I the only {gal} to stand up and say, 'Hooray, Beethoven, Hooray!'

ETA: it's also the date of the Boston Tea Party!

* It's my late grandmother's birthday (mother's mom).
* It still technically falls under the Holiday Season (well one day after. January 6th is the Ephiphany/3-kings day)
* I just learned that January 7 is Russian Christmas - although FH nor I are Russian so that doesn't really count!

Mine is during the 2nd half of the Omer (the time, in Jewish tradition, of mourning when no celebration can take place), which my Rabbi says is okay...it's a sunday before a monday holiday which means sunday night prices and saturday night carefree partying...it's far enough into my year-long internship that i can find out if i can take off for a honeymoon or if i have to wait until the year is up

Re: What's significant about your wedding date?

WELL the halls told us that JAN-FEB are the cheapest . MARCH was by it self(in the middle pricing) and APRIL-DEC are the most expensive months..

i had to meet my fi in the middle somewhere because we are splurging on alot of other things(plus a 250+ guest list). so we decided to do MARCH 25. the end of march more towards APRIL because that what i originally wanted ..

the significant is the price lol

We wanted something in the fall so it was either Sept or Oct, and I have a thing for double #'s, so looking at the calendar it was Oct 22 - and the hall had the date open

FH & I were friends for years and then started dating but I wasnt ready to commit....so I made a promise to him that I would try it but I wouldnt say that we are technically an 'item' I would just stop dating anyone else and see where it takes us....well On June 24 I came to the realization that what we were doing was no different from being in a relationship and that I was ready to totaly commit myself to him....so it just seemed natural for June 24 to be our wedding date when we decided on a summer wedding

1. It was available

2. It was a Monday of a holiday weekend so muuuuuuch cheaper.

3. It's the Fourth of July and I teach High School History... not American though

4. FH promised me he'd always make sure we had fireworks on our anniversary... said he has an original idea to have Macy's sponsor them

5. Because it's a holiday we'll always have it off from work.

Ours is between Easter and Passover and my sister's kids have off the following week (they live in GA and will have to travel) so that's how we picked it. But, I just looked it up and this is what happened on April 3rd.

April 3rd in History
1189: The Peace of Strasbourg signed, resolving the differences between Emperor Frederick Barbarossa of Germany and Pope Clement III
1721: Robert Walpole elected as Britains first Prime Minister
1860: In the United States, the Pony Express mail delivery system starts its service
1933: First ever flight over Mount Everest
1944: Supreme Court, in 'Smith v Allwright', declares 'white primaries' unconstitutional
1948: Harry Truman signs Marshall Plan to restore Europe

April 3rd birthdays
1367: Henry IV, King of England
1783: Washington Irving, American author
1893: Leslie Howard, American actor
1898: Henry Luce, American publisher (founder of Time magazine)
1924: Marlon Brando, American actor
1930: Helmut Kohl, German chancellor (reunited Germany)

There's nothing significant about our date -- we just picked it because Feb. rates are cheap.

I wanted a fall wedding, but not something where I would be having midterms in school. I also wanted it to still be warm enough that we could do an outdoor cocktail hour.

And HERE is something kind of fate-like/strange/coincidental...FI and I just realized that the house we just closed on - the address is the same as our wedding date. 1008!

ours was going to be March 7th, which was my grandparent's wedding anniversary, but then it was cheaper to do it on the Sat afternoon, so we chose the 6th. Turns out that my dad and stepmoms' is Aug 6th...

we also chose march because it was after our busy seasons at work, and before DH softball season and there was nothing else major in the beginning of March like b-days. Also DH loves Spring time and the beginning of all the flowers, etc.

We got married on my grandmother's birthday and we were very close so it was my way of having her with me on our day.

Unfortunately, our officiant screwed up during the ceremony and said it was the 4th anniversary of her death instead - except that she passed away 15 years ago, not 4. I will always be bothered by this because it was so very important to me and I couldn't stress that enough, and he screwed it up.

Re: What's significant about your wedding date?

Nothing about the day of the month is significant. However, I love the beginning of November. Fall nights have always been so cozy to me. Plus we started dating in November, and moved in together in November a year later. So November will now become our wedding anniversary. Which is perfect because we both love the fall.
