I love it (really, hate it ) when men sit next to you and spread theirs legs open onto my side of the seat!! THere's a reason the seats are different colours...you stay in your colour, I'll stay in mine!!

ok i don't take the LIRR, I take the PATH, but I have a question: why do people think that public transportation gives them the right to shove people out of the way? One of these days I am gonna shove someone back clear across the train!!

It does not matter if it is the LIRR, Path or other forms of mass transit but I hate the people that read over my shoulder while I am reading a book or newspaper. I also hate the men (like mentioned before) that sit with their legs wide open.

Friday some slobs were drinking beer and eating pizza, so what did the brainiacs do. Left their pizza box on the floor along with the beer cans. When I got up to get off at Ronkonkoma there was a sea of beer on the floor and I had on open sandals. YUCK!

I hate that it costs $10.50 to go 15 miles from my house!

And I hate when I'm around Jamaica and the train ALWAYS slows wayyy down.....

1. 30% higher fares and still late trains that are two cars short....its ridiculous!

2. If you forget your monthly they do not reinburse you....NOT FAIR!

3. They make the speach about not putting feet on the seats and using cell phones....right before we get off the train....I dont get it....shouldnt it be before we leave the station?

4. When you sit next to someone and they open their newpaper so that its on your lap.

I havent been on the LIRR or the subway in over a year. and I was a daily subway rider.

All I have to say is - ride the subway for a few months, you'll go RUNNING back to the LIRR !

as bad as the LIRR is, the subways make the LIRR look like heaven on wheels sometimes!

Oh where to begin. . . .on the whole I don't mind it, but lately. . . . .

Where, oh where, are the thermostats?? And why can't the car just be one temperature instead of freezing one day and boiling the next?

The amount of money it cost me every month to get to NYC - and I still have late trains, dirty trains, short trains. . . .

The list could go on. . . .

LeeLee, I agree. I sit with a woman every morning who says she hates the pigs who think their 'equipment' is so big they HAVE to sit with their legs spread. Ugh!

I also hate:

the rate increase
the fact that they added a stop to my zone so my ride from Brentwood is as much as a ride from Medford.
the freezing a/c in the summer and the lack of heat in the winter
the inexplicable track changes on rush hour trains when most of the passengers are waiting on the regular platform.
the annoying people on cell phones.
the annoying people who blast their walkmans so loud I can hear them 6 rows back across the aisle.
the broken seats
the smelly bathrooms
the fact that the Ronkonkoma line will probably never see those shiny new trains I see on the other lines.

For some reason every morning we wait at the same spot to let a train pass us. Why dont we just enter the tunnel first and the train that we always wait for to pass follow us?

I actually like the LIRR... BUT I hate when someone is sitting in my car and I hear their music through their headphones! It annoys the crap out of me!!!

It also annoys me when two people talk REALLY loud. Other than that, I enjoy my commute...

anna I agree with you. I ride the trains everyday and can not wait to get married and move out to LI just so I do not have to take the train but I can take the LIRR.

There is so much to vent about I don't even know where to start.

-Who's train is ever on time?
-Don't you love when people get on at Jamaica and stand in the isle with there ass's in your face?
-I could walk home faster sometimes
-Why do they call the track in Penn when the train isn't there? Do they not realize they are asking for someone to get shoved over the yellow line?
-Penn Station on Fridays!

I haven't even scratched the surface of my frustration!

I love it when people feel the need to run into a car and turn around and get out in order to be closer to the end of the train. What they end up doing is bumping into the people in back of them. And they don't say excuse me or sorry! What did I say this morning to a dumb a$$ that hit this poor woman in front of me-you JERK!!! That is flat out rude!!

Here is another one-when the conductor says please be courteous of your fellow passengers, no feet on the seats. I see WOMEN no less sprawled across two seats. Where on earth did you grow up?? Talk about no class.

Or those that have 100 bags all around them and there is no room for someone to sit in front of them. That is what the overhead area is for genius! Use it!!

One time I cursed some man out b/c he was on my heels. As if being in front of me would make him get to the train faster. I was squished myself!

I hated that I had to sit on the floor, becasue there were no seats, and I had to pay the same price as the people who got seats.

That is the reason I found a job on the island, I couldn't take the commute.

I agree, the subway is as bad, I used to be a daily subway rider as well, but trust me, when you move out to LI and have to deal with some of the nonsense you will feel our pain. I don't mind commuting on a day when everything is running smoothly, but I hardly ever see those days.
