Re: Why we hate the LIRR

I am so happy I moved back to Brooklyn.

I HATED it when people would crowd the area of the platform at Penn Station where the door would open and stand RIGHT ON YOUR ARSE. Then, when the doors open, they will not hesitate to walk right OVER you. One time I actually told a guy that I knew his groin size based upon how close he was to me, and that it could be considered sexual harrassment.

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

I hate the shoving and pushing that goes on and how they are practically on your @ss as you are getting on the train. Some guy did that the other night and I told him if he pushed me again he would be eating the track

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

lmao, i am literally cracking up. I am so happy you girls feel my pain!

Who else loves it when you are on an express train and some moron gets on the wrong train and they ended up stopping at Jamaica for that one individual who didn't pay attention while the conductor announced all the stops the train was making 10 different times?! Hey buddy, there are about 200 other people who have places to go and people to see!

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

When people in back of me start pushing, I stop moving. They wouldn't be happy if someone was pushing their behind into a train. Don't do it to other people. I learned to wait till everyone gets on the train first. My train isn't a packed train so why rush to get on, when I will always get a seat, ya know? People just don't understand that.

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

The people on the platform in the morning are just as bad. They are ruthless...grown men dont hesitate to elbow me and push me out of the way so they can get on first and get a seat. I am shocked by some of their behavior.

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

Oh, I can relate to the feeling about morons who get on expresses when they shouldn't.

I love how the conductors are getting loud with their express announcements.

'This train stops at......if you didn't hear your stop, get off, you're on the wrong train!!'

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

Chloegirl- Now I am not old fashioned and don't go for that men holding the doors for women and what not, but when an 8 month old pregnant lady gets on the train and all those 'men' sit there and go about there business, that ****es me off. I always end up getting up for older women or pregnant women. Not that I mind, but you would think a gentleman would offer no?

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

There is this one guy on my am train who is so obnoxious. Not only is he glued on his phone from when we get on till Penn, but he is a tall guy. He has the longest legs and proceeds to cross his legs on to the aisle. Then reads the paper on an angle so one of the pages is always hanging by the aisle. One time someone bumped right into his legs. The guy gets all ****y and the other fella says move your legs. They do not belong on the aisle!! HA HA!!!

My train is always packed, I guess people who live further out East drive to Ronkonkoma.

Hmm maybe there is some secret prize to be first on the rain

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

I also HATE it on Matinee Day when there are families on the train and you would think a male would get up to allow a 5/6 year old to sit down?? GEEZ I wonder if they would offer their own child a seat! That really disgusts me.

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

Oh I can write a book on this : ) 12 years I have been riding the lovely LIRR

People with too much perfume that makes me gag
women putting on makup and elbowing me when they do their eyeliner
people who snore
people who drool
people who fall asleep and their head ends touching me.
talking on the cell phone for extended converstations
the 'group' riders who sit in the 4 seater and yell and laugh loudly at 6:30 in the morning.
people eating food and drinks and leave them on the floor when they are done.
feeling like cattle when the door opens at the train station trying to get a seat
no airconditioning/heat in the summer/winter
short cars

Hmm thats it for now : )

I hate the smell, I hate the stampede in penn when the track number comes up and everyone tramples you down the stairs when the train is not even there yet!

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

I can not AGREE with you girls and your vents MORE!!!
Can I add when people CLIP THEIR FINGER/ TOE NAILS????
I absolutely LOSE it.
Or when people have really bad gas and refuse to get up and move to a doorway, while the rest of us suffocate.
I got up once and told a guy to either plug his A$$ or move!

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

Anna, right on! i have taken the LIRR a few times: it's haven compare to the subway ride during rush hour! And while I hate everythint that was already mentioned on this tread, my one ulimate pet peeve is: people who cut their nails on the train! the sound makes me want to throw up! I think it's SO disgusting! How can someone think that subway car is a place to cat nails and let the tips fly all over the floor or even the next person! uuuuhhhhh

Re: Why we hate the LIRR

When I rode the train I was pregnant!
I hated when there would be an empty seat in the middle & when you say excuse me. They roll their eyes. Kiss my arse & move buddy!!!

The people who would sit their napsak, shopping bag or whatever in a chair. You didn't buy the bag a ticket MOVE IT!!!

I will say for the most part people did get up for me when I was pregnant. But 80% of the time it was a woman!!
