We are having our reception at the Meadow Club as my avitar states. My boss actually recommended the place to me and I figured, what the heck 'Let's give it a shot'. We loved the beautiful setting and thought that it was nice that we would have a full size table in our bridal suite...they were just so accomodating to our needs and the price was great!! We also went to a food tasting and booked the next day. The food was soooo scrumptious...that was my main selling point. Plus the dance floor is big and we want every one up and dancing. I just loved every thing about it. It was so me from the minute we walked in, to the minute we left!!

Re: Why your reception hall
We were on a pretty strict budget b/c we weren't sure how much our parents were going to be able to help us. We saw a couple of places and thought East Wind was the most elegant for the price we wanted. Plus it was a bonus that they have hotel rooms right there so we wouldn't have to go anywhere afterwards. We love it there.

Food! The staff is soooo sweet. And no one in my family has really attended a wedding there before (including myself and FH).
Okay, Russo's was our first choice, with the view of the water...so beautiful. But, for a saturday night you needed a 200 minimum that we couldn't come up with. So our only option was Sunday afternoon, which we couldn't do because almost everyone is from out of town. It would require them to stay two nights, and my parents were totally not in favor of that.

Re: Why your reception hall
My reception hall wasn't even on our list to visit. But My friend and my mom and some other people insisted that we check it out. So we went just for the hell of it. When we walked in I didn't have an appt so I had to wait for a BM to come in which was only 15 mins or so, so we waited. The entrance was beautiful! When the BM came in and showed us the cocktail hr room. I was like WOW!!!!!!!!!!! I was in LOVE. It got better and better from there. We were so HAPPY we went to check it out. Also, the food is incredible their and you get so much of it. I LOVE our choice and can not wait to have our wedding at Villa's.
BTW...I Love this question.

Because the BM we met with didn't try to sell it to us like we were buying a used car...like some other BMs did.
I truly understand this feeling. We saw two places. The first place we saw had a BM who was very low key and real - the place we will choose. The second place had a wheeler-dealer who made me so uncomfy I couldn't wait to leave. I don't know if the temperament of a BM or caterer makes a difference to most people, but it sure as heck did as far as I am concerned. When you have to work so closely with people for such a serious matter, you have to like them. JMO.

Re: Why your reception hall
We chose Fox Hollow for a few reasons. First of all, it was amazing! Exactly what we wanted. Our ideal wedding would be in Vermont in Oct. in a cozy, charming inn. We got that feeling immediately! We walked out of there knowing it was the one! Secondly, for the price we are paying, we are getting an amazing deal! So much good food. It just called our names and we fell in love with it!

There are so many...As soon as I walked in, I knew I was sold...The ballroom is just magnificant! I love the dance floor & the ambience of the room! Plus I love the fact that it is only my wedding going on...
Once we tasted the food, I knew I was sold...Our guests are offered seconds if they want I can go on & on & on

Giorgio's was EXACTLY what we were looking for. - We wanted something with a beach, plus Giorgio's has the golf course for pictures. -We love the garden outside for the ceremony. -I feel in love with the wrap around deck they have that streches the entire reception and cocktail room. -The food and service is fantasic, the rooms are so beautiful. -I also love that it's secluded and in Sept the view is amazing. - Oh and one wedding at a time!
I couldn't be happier with my choice!

Re: Why your reception hall
this is strange...we were decided between the Watermill and Chatue Briand. While we were talking with Tom the director at the Watermill...he picked up a small piece of paper from the floor. He had previously gone on and on about how its the entire staff's responsiblity to keep the place clean. By him noticing this little piece of paper we realized that he meant what he said. So that was the deciding factor.

Well the fh wasn't my first choice but it is what we chose. I am very happy with the decision and the room that we have is just gorgeous. And all the food and the price was fantastic. Also the hotel next door. I am getting ready there and going over to the fh to get married so that was very convient.

Re: Why your reception hall
After seeing SOOOOO many other halls, I was at the end of my rope. Each hall had something we loved, but then a few things we could really do without...
We had an appt. with the Carltun and it had always been my favorite place. But after meeting with them, and seeing it as a bride instead of a guest, we decided it wasn't really for us.. so on a whim, we called the Carlyle and they waited for us to get there (cause it was late and they were closing...) to show us around and go over things. The services offered, the BM (love Cynthia sooo much!) and the fact that the magnificent conservatory ballroom overlooks the awesome Bethpage Black, we felt we were home! I can't wait for our big day... I love the Carlyle!

Re: Why your reception hall
Before we got engaged I had been obsessed with the Carlyle....we're at Bethpage State Park a lot and it looks so pretty from the outside. The first time I walked into the ballroom, I went 'Wow.' Exactly what I wanted for my wedding.
Like Kiddo, the fact that you overlook the famous Bethpage Black is really cool too.
