If a bride posted here saying 'here's a picture of my dress what do you think?' or 'I just booked my RH its _________' would you give your honest opinion? I'm just curious because whenever someone posts something, everyone always says how beautiful it is. I'm not thinking of anything specific so don't freak if you just posted your invite pic or something. I'm just asking in general: how honest are we? Frankly, I don't know if I would say I hated something, unless someone asked to choose between two options, even then I wouldn't say 'Oh pick two because one is horrible!'

Re: would you tell the truth?
Also, if it's a vendor I've had a bad experience with or think that what someone asked this vendor may not be for them, I will fm them. Why have them waste time if I can help in some way

Is this serious?
Chica, you had girls on your side on the other thread but you won't get any on this one. You are basically saying that someone looks fat in her dress, and you are asking people to FM you so you can tell them who it is. Not. Cool. No one is gonna get on this train with you. I don't get why you're stirring the pot like, 6 hours later.
ETA and don't even try to say that 'hideous' is being tactful. Fine, if you think the dress is unflattering, whatever, but you're calling it hideous and then you're trying to defend yourself. Astonishing!
ITA!
I think she is stirring the pot because she just wants attention... she wants to keep this thread alive...
She is definitely an attention wh0re...there's another thread where she basically said that paying over $5000 for photography is insanity.

Re: would you tell the truth?
I had your back on the other thread because I truly didn't see anything inflammatory.
But now you're crossing the line and being rude.
Unless you have something POSITIVE to contribute to the boards, maybe you should reconsider posting.

Re: would you tell the truth?
If i had a bad experience with a vendor i'll tell the girl. I'd want to know. But if it's just a matter of personal opinion regarding dresses and stuff if i'm not a fan I won't say anything.
To above hello kitty poster (forgot ur user name), really... that was an unnecessary post above. Yesterday I too agreed with you but not on this. There was no need to comment again and bring up your opinion on a 10' bride again. You said your opinion once, fine. It was lacking class but fine. But what would be your reasoning to say it again?
And FM you for the 2010 brides name? Are you kidding Way to look for more drama.
I had voted no - but it also depends on what the poster is asking. If they specifically asking for an opinion like do you like my dress, invite, RH, etc & it's not my cup of tea...I just dont post. Eveybody has their own sense of style, taste, etc & I dont feel it's necessary to make someone feel bad just because they love something & it's just not my taste. If I do like it - I will be the first to tell them how much I love their...(whatever). Having already had my wedding I know 1st hand HOW MUCH goes into all the planning, details, etc to make the wedding day so super special for the bride & groom as well as their guests. I would hate to think someone would be so spiteful as to respond w/ a negative comment on something I put hundreds of hours into. I always grew up w/ the philosophy 'if you dont have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all.' I still believe in that philosophy.
Now if someone was asking if I had a good/bad exp w/ a vendor, RH, HM destination - you bet I will either rave or tell them to BEWARE! Sadly there are some vendors who just dont deliver what is promised or situations arise & people just dont take responsibility for their screw-ups. Future brides should be privy to this type of info as to protect them from something similar or identical happening to them. Just my 2 cents.

Re: would you tell the truth?
I prefer the 'if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all' tactic. If it's something the person has already bought and cannot change, there is NO reason to make her upset because of MY opinion. If it's something she hasn't booked or bought yet, and I can offer some criticism that can help her avoid what i feel is a genuinely bad decision (unreliable vendor, etc), then I will be honest. It also depends on what it is. If its about clear vs. white address labels, I'll speak my mind. if it's about a gown that a woman truly loves, why should I interfere?
I would never lie and say I loved something when I didn't, but I also wouldn't want to hurt someone else because of my opinion, because it's SO not worth it

Re: would you tell the truth?
I do agree that it's best to be honest but you have to becareful with your words. Words can do a lot of damage if you're not careful with the way it comes across to others. However, I think it's also best to be truthful with someone when they want an honest opinion about dress, flowers, invites, make-up, etc. especially if it is for their wedding day. Think of it as someone that you know as a friend, sibling, etc. and chip in your two cents to help them out. Weddings are magical and marks a new chapter in someone's life and it's beautiful to have a happy Ever After. And if you can do that for them, why not. At the same time, I feel that it's important to be truthful and not sugarcoat certain things but to becareful with what you say to others.
