I don't think you should have paid. I took my girls to a luncheon and paid but I invited them all out to eat. You girls went to get dresses and then someone suggested you go get something to eat. I think that does not call for you paying the tab. If you feel bad that you didn't pay and want to do something like that for them, have them over for a pizza which is cheap or make something to have the girls over (my friend is doing this).

honestly, it depends where you went. if you went to a place where the per person charge was less than $20, i would have paid b/c they just put down $ for a dress
but if you decided to go to a place and some girls ordered $$$ entrees and others ordered like a salad...and then ppl ordered drinks...and the bill was alot, then everyone needs to pay their own way
you dont want to get taken advantage of either. so as long as the girls didnt go crazy in ordering food/drinks, i probably would have paid
but aside from that, i do think its RUUUUDE!! that FSIL said that.

im planning on taking the girls out to eat after they order their dresses. but i told everyone in advance that 'im taking them out to eat afterwards'. if on the day of, someone suggests that you go out to eat, then you def are not obligated to pay under any circumstances.

i think it depends on how you feel about it if you wanted to pay you could have done it! but since you probably didn't think about it i don't think you were obligated to pay anything

i think it just depends on the situation. i paid when i took the girls out to buy dresses (don't remember who suggested going out), but it's because i have the money and they really don't. so....i definitely don't think you're obligated at ALL. so yeah, in your situation, i think you were totally fine...but i don't think i agree with the girls who said that they should have paid for you, either.

Re: tell the truth !!!!!!!!
After I brought the girls to try on their dresses we went out to eat as well. When the bill came I tried to pay but they would not let me. I was honestly happy because I knew I really couldn't afford it. They even said to me 'don't even think of paying for it' You were def. NOT being cheap!! As a bride we have so many things to pay for and you shouldn't feel obligated to pay just because you're the one getting married.
