You and your FH

Original post by madseason

Im sure its different whether you are or are not living together..but...with all t he planning and preparing to be married..is your relationship changing? Do you notice a difference?

for ex: My FH and I talked about it and his mostly single friends are all like...well never see you again. bla bla.. it kinda hurt!

The difference in dating v. getting married...your responsibilites to each other...do they change since youve gotten engaged?

Are other things changing?

things between us have pretty much stayed the same....fh's friends ALWAYS say 'we never see u' but my FH also works like crazy hours during the week...so even i barely see him then on the weekends we have to catch up on all the chores and vendor stuff while finding time for our family and friends and alone time...so sometimes i see why they say that BUT ive told fh to plan stuff with his friends...and he has been...they all just are bad at making and keeping plans AND all his guy friends are pretty much single and do not want to grow up and no where near graduating undergrad but they are happy for us. so in that respect yes...things have changed because fh and i cant really act like we did in college...

I've seen a change, but not a bad or negative one. It's just a whole new dynamic... We live together so I was afraid that nothing would change, everything would feel exactly the same, but after getting engaged and having that alone change our relationship and make it more intense (in a good way), I'm confident that marriage for us is going to be amazing!!

i have the opposite problem!! MY friends are the ones who are giving ME a hard time about not being able to hang out both weekend nights, or saying they never see me anymore, saying fh gets all my attention...it's really difficult. i feel bad, but it's true that he and i are starting a life together, and that is my main priority.

but they don't seem to be very understanding.

My FH friends bug him to go out but he is very responsible and wants to save money. He has two single friends how can't just stay in for a night or even hang out at our friends house and just drink there. They always want to try to hook up with girls.. I feel like they never want to grow up. They he has 3 close friends who are in serious relationships who we can just hang out and drink wine and that's fun for us.

My girls are more understanding I try to at least go out with them maybe everyother week and if that I'll drive this way I don't spend a lot of money on drinks. I'm the type of person that can just dance and doesn't need to drink to have fun.

I feel that my FH and I did change but only really grown up. Being more responsible with our money.

I too have had this problem with one friend in particular. For the most part all of my friends are either married or engaged. But one of my very close friends is still single and even though FH and I have been dating for almost 6 years, she still gives me crap! I just make it clear that he is going to be my husband, MY FAMILY, and they just have to learn to understand!

Re: You and your FH

it makes me feel good that everyone is experiencing something...and im not a weirdo!!

Hes seeing them tonite...breaking a date w me to do it... because he feels guilty!!!! They are gving him such a hard time that hes feeling bad....and now i feel bad that he feels bad.. AHHH!!!

Its like a vicious cycle...

They think im turing him into something...when, like most of you have stated, he just doesnt wanna go drinking everyday sat and get blasted with the guysin a bar, and go spulrge like everyone else can (and does)! Wed rather take in a movie and some take out for 20 bucks!!

So i guess it comes down to guys will be guys??

I just feel bad that he feels so torn..even tho weve been together 6 years and most of these guys are my friends too!! I always considered myself one of the group...

I feel like even though we've lived together for the past 3 years, he's talking a lot more about the future...How he wants our lives to be...our future house...how we'll raise the kids (he's a spanker hahaha).

He still has his 'time alone'...at the gym most of the days of the week. He won't let me join the same gym as him because he says i'll ruin his flow. I do admit, the few times we went together, i was constantly going over to just chat with me. Apparently, the gym is not for chatting.

hmmm its more like you just realize that there is so much you haven't done and seeing all your friends doing all those things doesn't help.

Re: You and your FH

My differences are that we want to go out and see our friends seperately more and more. We enjoy having some time apart every so often this way we don't get burnt out on each other.

We both like some space and some personal time with our friends so it works out better now.

Another change is we are going over less and less to his sisters house and he enjoys hanging out at my house now. When we first dated all we ever did was hang out at his sisters house and now as the years have gone on he cant stand his sisters house (and after last night i refuse to step in that house alone ever again).

Other then that things are still the same. I can't wait for us to live together so we really test run things prior to marriage.

we're living together for about 4 years, nothing has changed! FH claims that we're already an old married couple, the wedding is just when I'll get my jewelery & we'll throw a party, lol

We've been living like a married couple tho, accts joint etc.
