Classes might work, but I get mad at the enthusiasm of the instructors. It's like, 'Shut up you annoying jerk!'
You and I would have so much fun at the gym together.... I recently went to hot yoga (worst decision of my life) and the entire time I was just cursing the instructor out in my mind... every time she opened her mouth I wanted to throw my sweat covered mat at her.

What about yoga or pilates or a barre method class? i hate the gym but i love going to the studios that are specific to a type of class.
If you hate running on the treadmill run outside! Its so nice out! No reason to stay couped up in the gym!
The goals I set for myself are all running related. Even though i like to run, I usually can only motivate myself by training for a half marathon, or doing speed work to improve my time.
if I am not running, i am usually taking physique 57 which is so much fun (Kelly Ripa takes it).
I'm with Rachel, and blame her for my addiction to Physique 57. Whether or not you have a long term goal, being in a class setting makes you more competitive with yourself. I can't just go to the gym and do elliptical or weights, I need to be in a class setting at Physique 57, Zumba, or Pilates to motivate me!
I also started running again and running with a buddy in Central Park and signing up for races is helping me motivate since I'm basically training for a race in the near future.
don't go to physique with these two - i was like dying and they weren't even breaking a sweat!!
but seriously - maybe a zumba or dance cardio class (or even a reg dance class?) would be perf. Usually the instructors don't talk that much, they just do the moves and you follow it.

I'm in the same boat. hate the gym. feel like a fool who doesn't know what they are doing. I signed up for Zumba and love it. I've only been doing it once a week but i'm thinking of finding another class & do it 2 times a week.Welcome New Vendors
