question about thank you's

when you're writing the thank you card to an older couple who you don't really know very well, do you write 'Dear Mr & Mrs X' or 'Dear Mary & Joe' ?

i kinda feel weird about both choices ....

ETA: also, when writing the card to DH's parents, should i write 'Dear Mom & Dad' or 'Dear Barbie & Ken'...?

For your dh's parents- mom and dad

For everyone else, write the names they put in the card.
