Re: What would you do!? Spinoff from a 2010 thread
One of my friends wore a dress that was white with some black trim and details. It wasn't very wedding dress like, but I wouldn't have worn it to a wedding.Another friend wore a white silk blouse with lace and black pants. That was also kinda inappropriate, but she is having money problems and it might be her only 'nice' outfit right now so I didn't say anything.
Cest la vie.

I would spill red wine on them.....when all the drama about my MIL was going on and the white dress she bought with the birdcage veil. My mom and uncles said if she walked in like that they would escort her out.I just think its so disrespectful for women to wear white....umm hello this isn't your day and your just making yourself look like a fool.

colleen, i just posted this on the 2010 board, but i figured i would share it on here too!
i think i've shown this pic on the 2010 boards, but one of my former students got married last year, and look what her COUSIN wore. BTW, they bride's cousin was with her when she picked out her wedding dress!
That is actually quite hilarious. She wasn't a bridesmaid or anything? If she wasn't she just looks ridiculous and she should be embarassed.
But on a side note...I don't really see what the big deal is if someone wears a white dress to a wedding. The OP in on the 2010 board even admitted she didn't even notice her guest in white, so it really didn't affect her day at all. NO ONE is going to overshadow the bride...everyone knows who she is. That being said...I wouldn't do it myself.
That's kind of how I feel...everyone knows who the bride is the day of her wedding...it's not like there will be questions like hmm which one is the bride? Yes it's tacky but I don't think I would have even devoted a second of my day to thinking about it!

One of my step mother's friends wore an off white suit to my wedding. I was a little taken aback when she walked into the cocktail hour. She is a lovely woman so I was surprised but to be honest, she looked beautiful and I just was SO done w/wedding BS that it rolled off my back.

OH MY GOD!!! That is the most awful thing I've ever seen... this belongs in a movie or something.
Ok, someone said it's not like ppl would be mistaking others for the bride but in this case I bet you people were htinking that girl was the bride at first glance all night! How old is that girl????

I just don't think its necessary to wear white to a wedding--sure nobody will overshadow the bride, but its a respect thing. There are a zillion other colors to choose from. Its like bringing a keyboard to a piano concert and sitting in the audience playing it.That chick in the photo should be embarrassed of herself. Not only does she look rude and desrespectful, she looks like a HOT MESS. Did she think she would look better than the bride? B/c she failed. Miserably.

I don't see what the big deal is. Unless it's a long white gown I wouldn't have cared.

OH BTW No-one wore white to our wedding. But if they did i prob would have made a joke. Like I guess you wanted to look just liek me today huh?![]()
I would do the same...make a joke to bring up the subject so she at least knew you had noticed and make her feel bad..

Yep. The funniest part was that the dress came in like 85 colors and that was the one she chose.
Everyone made fun of her that day so even though the dress was pretty, she still looked silly. Nice try!
