The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!

Ladies, let's help each other plan our HMs.
Since we all are mainly going to the same islands (I'm going to Maui and Kauai, and I know lots are too- also Oahu is popular among us) let's post the activites/tours that we find interesting so we can help each other.

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!

The first thing I want to post about is a place in Kauai I found in Kauai, this looks great.
It's a 4 hour Horseback tour along the mountainsand waterfalls of Kauai. Description:

Experience a scenic ride to a perfect Hawaiian waterfall setting with a picnic lunch.

A fern-lined waterfall plunging into a mountain pool where you can enjoy a cool brisk swim and meditate over its majestic beauty…

Our waterfall picnic ride lasts approximately four hours and includes riding across ranch land, a short steep 10-minute hike (without your horse) and a relaxing swim and picnic lunch at a majestic waterfall.

All riders must be in good physical condition.

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!

Wow great idea!! That horse riding tour sounds great and i am staying at the princeville so I think that will be a definite for us, that helicopter ride is supposed to be phenomenal even though i am a bit scared just a pre flight cocktail should take the edge off

Are people signing up for stuff before they get there or doing it as you go along?

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!

Liz the horseback riding thing sounds amazing.

I am not going to Hawaii but it sounds so beautiful.

We did the horseback riding excursion in Cancun and it was breathtaking. At the end of the excursion we went onto this little beach and across the water was Cozumel and the sun was setting, it was breathtaking. Just sitting on this little beach with the horse watching the sun set, then hopping back on and going back to the place where they keep the horses was so pretty. Though my toosh was a little sore, it was worth it.

I was petfried though of horseback riding. I never did that before so when the horse moved when I was told it wasnt freaked me out. But after a while I got used to it and really enjoyed it.

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!

Great idea as usual Liz. I was thinking of the helicopter tour too but I'm a big chicken so I'm not too sure about that.
I have a ton of Maui info from a friend whose grandmother lives there. I of course can't find it now but I'll post it later. The few things I can remember are definitely to do the road to Hana. She recommends staying overnight or at least starting very early in the morning.
She and my Frommers book recommened the Old Lahaina Luau www.oldlahainaluau.com
Supposedly its the best in Maui. $75 per person which is the average price

Re:'The'OFFICIAL'Hawaii'Honeymooners'thread!!!!

My friends went and said you have to do the sunrise bike ride down the volcano in Maui....
Bike Ride
The one downside is that they pick you up at 2AM but they said it was worth it.

Re: Re:'The'OFFICIAL'Hawaii'Honeymooners'thread!!!!

Aloha! Two great books to read before going:
Unofficial Guide to Hawaii and Hawaii for Dummies.
Worth ordering the Hawaii entertainment book for all sorts of coupons go to www.entertainment.com
Maui - a must is the sunrise bike ride down Haleakala, driving your rental car on the road to Hana (hawaii for dummies has 32 mile markers they recommend you should stop at) and Old Lanaina Luau. Also Mama's Fish House is a must for dining. It's a little pricey (what isn't?) but I heard the view and food is excellent.
Oahu- a must is Pearl Harbor, Polynesian Cultural Center and Diamond Head Crater. Oahu will be more of a nightlife experience, plenty of bars and clubs. If you get one of the 2 books I mentioned you'll be well educated on Hawaii.
