Newlyweds: What was the one BEST thing about your shower?

Im throwing a friends shower next year. Its quite a whiles away so I dont have theme or solid ideas on what im going to do. But you guys who know me - I want to do it up right. So I thought I would go to you lovely ladies who probably have tons of great ideas I can borrow (ok, outright steal ) and build the party around the ones that she might like.

So I was wondering if you could share the ONE OR TWO most fabulous things about your shower?

(Obviously having people who love you all there to celebrate is #1 but Im looking for things that are under my control. Like the theme or the decor or a special gift or a unique way to remember the day or whatever)

Some of the highlights of my shower were:

1) My friends ordered M&M's in my wedding colors (Navy Blue and Silver).
2) It was a theme shower and all guests received a tag in their invite and their gift was supposed to reflect that tag. The theme was Christina's hobbies. The different choices were:
Spending time with FH
Reading
Cooking
Relaxing
Karate

What I really loved about my shower is that my MOH really took my tastes and styles and created something that I would love...not something bridey and fluffy 'just because'....

She indicated my wishing well should be something wine related (b/c FH and I are big into wine and were getting married in Tuscany)
I got some GREAT bottles and beautiful coasters and wine charms and books about wine...It was so much better than a cheese grater or soup ladel

I love that she put so much thought into my favors (lavendar saches(sp?)) because Lavendar is my favorite scent and I have it everywhere in my apartment....

I love that she handpicked a place that I would love that went with her 'theme' and was just the most attentive and supportive host.

My BM's did the ugliest veil contest, where eveyone broke up into groups, and they were given a bag with some ugly lace, orange rosettes, purple glitter stuff, they were hideous. Each group had to make the ugliest, and i decided which was the worst. They had alot of fun, and I was PIMP.

My mom outdid herself for my shower.

First she had it at the Milleridge Carriage House which was so beautiful and intimate.
She also made up cookie receipe cards with a heart shaped cutter and had the baker at Milleridge make the cookies and had them out on the table. She had pictures of me growing up , my FH at the time and pictures of friends and family allover the room.
Another thing my mom did was make a wedding cake out of different size hat boxes and in each box was a card with a special gift.

That day was so special to me
